This is just wonderful, and fills me with delight. I can't put it in words really...but sci-fi/fantasy in general, especially along these lines, just had such a different feeling back then (60's-80's), and a picture like this has that feeling captured in it. The...way people thought was different than it is now, and so was the way folks dreamed. I wish I had a word for what I'm getting at, but I really don't. That analog telepathy business sure would come in handy about now. XD It's not nostalgia so much as...something else...yet it's also nostalgia too..
That said I'm a youngin', and this was drawn the year I was born...heh. Thanks so much for posting it, it made my day. =^.^=

Actually, I know exactly what you are talking about/feeling. One very lucky thing I was able to do was to go to EPCOT in WDW the year it opened. Every attraction in Futureworld was looking ahead to a bright future. It was something out of the 60's, like watching Wonderful World of Color, hosted by Walt himself. It's not like that now. Even though they are doing the "retro" future, it's just not the same. Have you seen Iron Man 2 yet? What do you think of Stark senior? Seem familiar? Also, don't leave early. Sit through the credits. There is a song you'll want to hear...
*smiles* Oh really? I haven't seen Iron Man 2 yet, but perhaps if it's still at the theater after I finish moving soon, I'll go then. :)
I remember you hosing a pannel on this at a con one time. How to design furniture and basicaly everything around a furry body instead of a human one. Our world is VERY tail unfriendly. Just ask any feline around rocking chairs. I had a picture done of a skiltaire pilot on a bench setup like this where they were belly down on it with all four paws free for controls. Features a golden colored skiltaire who got the name of Iyur eventuraly. A very rarely played char of mine. Was in a ship with the lable of Skunkworks on the side.
Yes, I remember that Steve Martin painting. It's probably the second time he drew a Skiltaire and actually got it right.
Ken is much better at designing tech then he thinks he is. Of course, that is a pretty standard attitude for a lot of artists.
