Despite this being the point of WIPs, I still get that wave of dread
on the rare occurrences it"s happened in my decade of doing and buying
commissions. :,D

Can relate. Haha. I always feel really awkward asking for changes in the art, even when it's just a sketch.
The Pterodon is my absolute mood whenever I notice things on wips I get, I just don't wanna be a bother.
I'm in this picture and I don't like it
XD For real, though, sometimes pointing out a mistake just feels so much like I'm nit picking.

Thats the big issue i have too. I dont want to seem like a picky ass over such things.
This is such a mood. I get this all the time with comms I make. For some reason, even though the WIP is SUPPOSED to be the point of you making remarks to make the end-product better and do your character justice, you just feel like you're slapping the artist for their work so far....
Brains are weird man. o.o

I Get like this whenever I'm getting a commission and I Notice something off ^^' always apologizing for being a bother, as well ^^;
I know how that feels. I swear I quadruple check and still miss things sometimes XD
I prefer to have the client say it so I know to fix it, so I try to do the same when I order art. <3

true... all true.. "did I miss that ?" "how could I..?" and "oh, dear!"
This is such a mood... especially because I have a bad habit of overlooking the absence of tiny but OCD-bugging details in WIPs. *External AAAAAAA*
Big true! I miss tiny things all the time and hope people would point it out to me~ I do feel that stress of asking xD
Oof, this seems like a rare occurrence, because more often than not artists actually do get upset, to the point I always offer more money if I ask for fixes. Worse when you can tell they just glossed over your ref sheet! Sometimes makes you wish you had a simple boring character haha. Those who care and put effort in are gold and get repeat commissions
OH god that happens to mΔ so many times... Probably cuz my drsgon is way WAY harder to draw than any other charakters from my friends
This is almost TOO relatable. Like a minor change that takes the artist like half a minute to do and I'm like "oh man I hope it's not too much oh I'm so picky and-"
It's mostly the artist getting mad at the commissioner and blame them for missed info even when it's literally written and shown there,
Atleast on my end XD
Atleast on my end XD
I'm not that nice myself but atleast I own my mistake and man up to fix it,
I've seen artists that would cast blame on the commissioner, or dismiss any claim that they missed up something, or act like the discussion is over when it's not or even speak to the commission in the most minimalistic way possible and sounding so monotone in their writing that it really feels they are treating you like a cash cow and not a person like "Move along, move aloooong" lol XD

TBH I've had that a few times as well, a few of the times I've commissioned something. A very brief 'Pay here' or something in a note - hard to go back to somebody when it's like that even if the art is decent.
I can confirm this is how I feel when commissioning something. Even more so when there are no WIPs involved. ^^;
I can totally relate. I'm always afraid I'm getting too nit-picky and getting on the artist's nerve. x_x
Such a MOOD! Just had this same thing happen to me (as a commissioner) last night. xD
This Furry Logic series of yours is just *lipsmacc* words of true w i s d u m m
Oh god, I feel that! I'm always so nervous to tell my commissioners to add certain things if they miss them because I'm always so shy and thinking i'm being a burden
I Have done this exact internal Dialogue with Just about every artist I've ever commissioned. and felt the other side in doing gift arts for friends even.
Unfortunately this has not happened to me, as an artist myself, I cannot say I can avoid that kind of situation forever.
for me it is my three tail feathers and my chest marking hehe
These are all really good and good points...
as a commissioner I feel exactly this way! Even to this day... I see a WIPs if I see something wrong I really am greatly concerned speaking up if it's something minor, but sometimes even the minor stuff feels a bit major in the long run. I've slowly gotten better but I still feel horribly nervous asking for any changes.

Dude I feel that way whenever I talk to an artist about my commissions and if they miss something.
I CAN RELATE SO MUCH TO THIS! ESPECIALLY ON CASES OF FREE ART
Ah, this is good. XD
I find, as an artist, that people are often too shy to ask sometimes, or really timid when they do ask as if I'm gonna berate them for asking for changes -- and I certainly am not always aware enough to catch every single marking even while paying attention to a ref sheet so I definitely appreciate corrections that I've missed. You get into that art mode and sometimes gloss over something. I always wonder who people commissioned before me to be so beaten-down and afraid to ask. :)

Oh god, I feel attacked XD This is me in a nutshell
Back when I did commissions, I related to this so much. XD That's why I kept PSD files in case this happened!
Honestly....knowing that's how artists can feel is...REALLY comforting. 'Cause...yeah, as you must know, bringing it up is hella awkward, lol.
I had one really good artist completely botch the entire color of a character (literally ALL of his color) 'cause I thought they were asking for his eye color, but I guess they were asking for his markings. I use pencils primarily as my medium, including ref sheets (I'll use colored pencils, too, thus the confusion...I don't do everything gray-scale). I just let it slide instead of correcting them on the completely wrong colors, figuring I could get someone else to correct it if I wanted in the future, lol.

When artists send me their WIPs, I've hopefully already tried to gather if they're looking for approval to go with what they have, or if they're looking for "redlines".
Either way, I'm happy to let the artist have what they need to do the piece because some artists LOVE that I'll red-line markings and changes over the sketch they've sent because it takes out all of the ambiguity, and I've had artists dislike anything but "yeah, go with it".
Sometimes I miss and go the wrong way with an artist, but I almost always include "These are just suggestions. You are the artist. Do what you think looks best for your style" as long as they're not heinously out of touch with what I'm looking for. :)

I feel like this is a perfect result of "I had a friend that..." conversations worming its way into our psyche and making us all terrified.
i kinda feel like an idiot instead when i commission something and i spot something wrong and checking back it was already there in the previous WIP.
I am that pterra every time. I always worry I'm gonna sound like an asshat. XD
Honestly...samesies. Iβm always terrified of pointing out missed details to artists for fear of them hating me.
It's part of the reason I'm terrified to commission people even if I have the money for it...
Oh gosh this is too damn accurate. I dont want my fav artists to feel bothered by my stupid little details ;w;
oh gosh, i definitely can relate as artist ^^"
just awesome job =)
just awesome job =)
Never ordered a commission... but in future will want to do it... this is one of the thoughts that came into my head :"] #screw_anxiety
