It was a very beautiful spring day in the Hundred Acre Wood, the sun was shining, the trees were covered in fresh green leaves, and the birds were all singing. On this fine day, we shift our focus to a wolf named Wyuli. Now Wyuli has always been very acrobatic, doing all sorts of stunts for her friends. However, today she will learn how important it is to be careful. And this is where our story begins.
One fine spring day in the Hundred Acre Wood, Wyuli the Wolf was taking a nice peaceful walk through the forest with her friends Piglet and Winnie the Pooh. As they walked, Wyuli decided to do some acrobatics to make it more interesting, she did a cartwheel, then a back handspring, and finally ended with a backflip, landing perfectly on her feet. Pooh and Piglet applauded and cheered as Wyuli took a bow.
”Oh, wow!, you are getting really good at your acrobatics, Wyuli” said Piglet, shocked and amazed at his friend. “Yes, you are rather skilled, indeed” said Pooh. Wyuli chuckled at them, “Thanks guys, I really appreciate it” she said in a cheerful voice. Everyone in the Hundred Acre Wood knew how skilled Wyuli was at her acrobatics. She could do things that most her friends could not such as doing cartwheels, walking upside down while in a handstand, and could even do the splits. Wyuli had pride when it came to her acrobatics, and it showed. Even Tigger was a little jealous of her sometimes.
As they walked through the forest, the three of them found a nice sunny spot in an open field. “You guys want to stop here for some lunch?” asked Piglet, who was carrying a picnic basket with him. “Sure, I am getting rather hungry” said “What about you, Pooh?” she asked. “Oh yes, my tummy is rather rumbly” he agreed. “Then it’s settled then, it’s a good thing I brought my picnic basket with me” said Piglet, looking for a place to set up.
Soon, the three friends stopped for a picnic lunch. Inside the basket that Piglet brought were some plates, utensils and of course, food. Some of the food that was brought included some haycorns, some of Wyuli’s famous chocolate chip cookies, some fruit salad made from strawberries, blueberries and apples, and of course, a honey pot for Pooh. Now Wyuli, in addition to being very skilled in acrobatics, she was always a very talented baker, her chocolate chip cookies were soo good, that it rivaled Kanga’s, and it wasn’t uncommon for she and Wyuli to have bake-offs, seeing who could make the best yummy treats. She was not just limited to cookies, Wyuli was known to make pies, cakes, and even pastries.
After the picnic lunch, Wyuli decided to practice some more of her acrobatics. She went over to a nice open spot and began by stretching her muscles and getting warmed up. Then, she got on all fours and placed her hands in front of her so that her arms and elbows made a ninety degree angle. Wyuli then placed the top of her head on the grass in front on her hands, forming a triangle with her hands and head. Piglet watched in amazement as Wyuli shifted her weight and began to very slowly lift up her legs into the sky until she was balanced in a headstand, her toes pointing straight into the air.
“That’s quite impressive, Wyuli” said Piglet, amazed by her acrobatic stunt. “Thanks, but i’m not done yet, watch this” said Wyuli, upside down. Piglet was starting to get a little worried, as he knew that his friend could be a bit of a show-off at times. “Oh, do be careful” he said, nervously. The wolf then slowly lifted one arm off of the ground, however, due to her unfamiliarity with this stunt, it caused her to wobble a lot. “Uh oh!, W-W-W-Whoa!” she said, teetering back and forth, feeling rather shaky. “Oh my, I can’t look!” said Piglet, who shut his eyes by putting his hands over his face. Wyuli tried her best to keep herself balanced, but it was too late. She toppled over and landed with a loud thump on her legs.
When Piglet opened his eyes, he saw that his friend had just fallen over, lying on her back. “Oh, d-d-d-dear, are you alright?” he asked. “Yeah, I think so” said Wyuli. Just as she was getting up, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her right ankle. “Ooh! Ouch!” she winced, as she grabbed her ankle, it was all red and swollen from where she had fallen. “What‘s wrong, are you hurt?” asked Piglet rather nervously. He was worried that his friend could of injured herself badly. ”Ow!, I think I sprained my ankle” she said, trying really hard not to express any sign of pain to her friend. “Let me see” said Piglet, who approached her leg and accidentally touched her sprained ankle. “OW!!!” said Wyuli, yelling in pain. “Please don’t touch it”. Piglet stepped back and said, “I’m sorry, Wyuli, I didn’t mean to hurt you”. The wolf just looked at him and smiled. “That’s okay, it was an accident, I know you didn’t mean to hurt me”, she said. That made Piglet feel much better.
Just then, Pooh, who had just finished his pot of honey, showed up. “Wyuli, why are you on the ground, and not on your feet?, asked Pooh. Wyuli looked at her friend and said, albeit in a rather pained voice, “Pooh, I think I might of injured myself”. Piglet explained to his best friend that Wyuli was trying a new stunt and that she fell over and possibly sprained her ankle in the process. Pooh gasped and suddenly felt sorry for her, “Does it hurt?” he asked, in a worried voice. “It’s really sore, but I’ll be alright guys” said Wyuli, still in pain.
“Maybe we oughta see Kanga, she could take a look at it” said Piglet, offering an idea. Pooh nodded, “Yes, I think that’s for the best” he said. With that, the two of them helped Wyuli off the ground, being careful not to touch her ankle. Pooh and Piglet then helped her to Kanga’s house, which was on the other side of the Hundred Acre Wood. Since Wyuli couldn’t walk on her sprained ankle, she limped instead.
When they arrived, Pooh knocked on her door. “Who is it?” came her sweet voice. “It’s Pooh, Piglet, and Wyuli” he said back. The door opened and Kanga noticed Wyuli in pain. “Oh, Wyuli, you poor thing, are you alright?” she asked. “Yeah, I think I might of sprained my ankle while doing some acrobatics , can you take a look at it please?” asked Wyuli, wincing. Kanga then smiled, “Why of course dear, come right in”. Piglet and Pooh helped Wyuli inside and sat her down in a chair. “Ow, ow, ow, ow!” she said, while being put on the chair. Pooh decided to comfort her, “I know it hurts, but don’t worry, Kanga’s knowing what’s she’s doing” he said.
Kanga came back with some ice and a couple of bandages. She examined Wyuli’s ankle, which was indeed red and swollen. “Yep, look likes it’s sprained all right” said Kanga putting ice on it. Wyuli shivered as she felt the cold ice touch her ankle. “So, am I going to be alright?” she asked as her ankle was being bandaged up by Kanga. ”You’ll be fine in a couple of days, but for now, you need to stay off your ankle for a while until it completely heals” said the mother. “Okay, guess this means I won’t be doing any acrobatics for a while” said Wyuli.
“I’m afraid not” said Kanga. The wolf winced a bit and said “Thank you for helping me, I really appreciate it”. Kanga smiled and said, “You’re very welcome, Wyuli”.
After Wyuli was bandaged up, Kanga gave her a set of crutches for her to use. It took a while to get the hang of them, but eventually she was able to walk with them. It was soon time for Wyuli to go home. “Thanks again!, bye!” she said, waving to her friend. “Goodbye, and get well soon” said Kanga waving back. Then, Piglet and Pooh helped her walk to her house, once they arrived, Wyuli went straight to her couch and sat down, elevating her ankle. “Thank you, guys” she said to them. “You’re welcome, just doing a kind thing for a friend” said Pooh. “Oh, no need to thank us, we’re just looking out for you” said Piglet. Soon they left her house, and decided to tell the others about what happened.
Meanwhile, Wyuli was getting quite miserable. She couldn’t do any of her acrobatics for some time and was getting rather bored of just sitting on her couch and resting. “What should I do?” she asked herself. Just then, there was a knock at her door. “Coming!” she said. “I wonder who that could be” she thought to herself. Wyuli got out of her couch, and used her crutches to walk to the front door. When she opened it, she saw Pooh, Piglet and all of her friends. “You guys, what are you doing here?” asked Wyuli in surprise. Pooh chuckled, “We wouldn’t want you to be lonely while you were recovering from your injury, so we’re here to keep you company” he said. The wolf smiled, “In that case, do come in” she said, inviting them inside.
Once inside, her friends decided to stay a while. Wyuli made them some tea that Owl had gave her a couple weeks back. Pooh then held out an envelope with her name on it. “This is for you, from all of us” he said, giving it to her. Wyuli was surprised, she wasn’t expecting any mail today. “For me?, why thank you, Pooh” she said. Wyuli opened the letter and began to read its contents. As it turned out, it was a get well card with pictures of her drawn by all of her friends. Wyuli was touched when she read the card. The card read, albeit quite misspelled, “Dear Wyuli, we are sorry that you are injured, here’s to hope you make a quick recovery” It was signed by Pooh, Piglet, Kanga, Roo, Eeyore, Tigger, Rabbit, and even Gopher. “Awww, you guys shouldn’t of”, she said, crying tears of joy. She then gave all of her friends a massive group hug. “Thank you so much, you’re the best friends i’ve ever had” she said. Eeyore soon broke the silence, “Just wanted to cheer you up” he said, with a smile. Wyuli grinned as she let go of the hug. Afterwards, all of her friends went home. Wyuli placed the card on her shelf where she kept her pictures and smiled, She was getting a bit tired after her friends came so she yawned and took a nap on the couch.
A couple of days later, her ankle was feeling much better and decided to go for a walk, where she found Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet, and all of her friends having a lovely picnic lunch.
Owl noticed her and decided to greet her, “Ah, Wyuli, just in time, glad to hear you’re feeling better”. Wyuli smiled, ”Thank you everybody for taking good care of me“ she said, sweetly. “You’re very welcome, Wyuli“ said Rabbit. “Besides, there’s no need to thank us, you’re like family to us, and we care a whole lot for each other”. She then went up and gave everyone a another large group hug. “Thank you, so much” she smiled, as she and the rest of her friends enjoyed the picnic lunch.
And that’s the story about how Wyuli injured herself.
