August 28: Interlude
I woke up in the middle of the night to a dim cave with everyone else’s shadowy figures on their sleeping bags. Try as I could, getting myself to fall asleep again simply wasn’t working. Thinking that perhaps some fresh air might help, I thought of heading out, being careful not to step on anyone while grabbing the nearest lantern to help light my way while going out the cave.
Outside was Torahiko sitting in the middle of the runway, half pensive, half drowsy. The stars in the sky still shone their brightest while the air felt cool on the skin, serving as a reminder for the approaching autumn. Looking back, we never really had any time to ourselves yesterday with the plane and all and finally, we had an opportunity. I sat beside him and leaned on his shoulder.
“What a day,” I said.
Torahiko pulled me close by the waist. “It was definitely worth almost getting my hand broken.”
“We all pulled through in the end, didn’t we”
“Yeah. Now Tappei-san will start nagging us to work part-time for him.”
“I think you’re safe from that.” I sniffled. “Do you think the plane will fly?”
Tora harrumphed. “It better or I’m going yambare on it with a hammer.”
I chuckled. “It’s yandere, Tora. And please don’t.”
“I know one thing’s for sure when we get home. We need a hell of a bath.”
“Definitely.”
Torahiko booped my nose with his. “And we’ll be taking one together.”
“I practically have a lifetime discount at your inn. You think I’d turn that down?”
“God, I love you so much.”
I put both my hands on his cheeks. “Well come over here and give me a smooching.”
