After the events in which Mick Daniels acquired the SPD Shadow Morpher, Fox decides to accompany and aid Mick in his new leadership-role in Earth's SPD for a while, before he begins the long trip back to Lylat. However, after a few missions of rendering assistance, Fox starts to feel his skill and aid is inadequate, and that he is nothing but dead weight dragging Mick down. Mick, after finding this out from Fox, tells him that is not even close to the case and that he would not have anyone else at his side. Despite this, Fox still continues to feel down.

During a diplomatic mission to Mirinoi, Fox, along with Krystal and Mick fall under attack by an orbital ambush from not only a revived Gruumm, but also from the Star Wolf team and Trakeena. The consular ship carrying the ambassador and Mick, along with the fighter Fox and Krystal are using all end up being shot down and crashing on Mirinoi.

Fox and Krystal crash close to the village where the current Lost Galaxy rangers reside. After stumbling into the village from wandering Mirinoi's jungles for a few days, they get help from Leo Corbett, the Lost Galaxy Red Ranger. After Leo hears their story, and that they need to find Mick due to Gruumm's resurrection, Leo calls upon the other Lost Galaxy Rangers and they start a search for Mick.

One day later, they find Mick. However, he is not in a good situation; He is locked in combat with Styx and the Star Wolf team when he is found, Trakeena watching the fight, using every opportunity to degrade and taunt the new Shadow Ranger. The Lost Galaxy rangers are immediately incensed, and jump into battle to help Mick.

It is by that point, a horrifying truth is revealed; Styx and the Star Wolf Team show their new equipment: Dark Power-Coin Ranger Morphers! Using these Dark Power Coins, Styx, Wolf, Leon, and Panther morph into the Dark Rangers! A brutal battle ensues, the Lost Galaxy rangers unable to complete their morphs before being attacked. This ends with Leo being mortally injured, along with Damon and Karone ending up crippled afterwards.

As Styx closes in on his doppelganger, Leo uses the last of his remaining strength to throw his Quasar Saber to Fox! Fox catches it, and it starts to glow brightly, along with a morpher materializing on his wrist, indicating that he has been chosen as the new Lost Galaxy Red Ranger. Fox, not fully knowing or understanding what is going on, hastily morphs and engages Styx. This sudden twist forces Trakeena, Styx, and Star Wolf to retreat.

Fox then runs back over to Leo, who dies in his arms. This tears Fox apart at his core, seeing as he has always been know as a hero and saved everybody he has ever come across that needed help. But this time, Fox was the one that needed rescued. That fact replays in his thoughts over and over for the next twelve hours, and Fox starts to think the Quasar Saber made a mistake in choosing him.

Upon these thoughts, Leo appears in front of Fox as a spirit. Leo tells Fox that he should not blame himself, and that there was nothing that could have been done. Leo also tells Fox that the Quasar Saber does not make mistakes when it chooses; It chose Fox for a reason. Leo tells Fox that he will always be with him, guiding him in spirit, and reinforces the fact that Fox is more than worthy of carrying the Red Quasar Saber, and the mantle of Lost Galaxy Red Ranger.

Shortly after this, Falco and Slippy, along with Miyu and Fay arrive at Mirinoi in the Great Fox II. Finding Fox and Krystal in the village attending to Karone and Damon's injuries, they tell Fox that Star Wolf has Mick pinned down in a cave. Damon and Karone realize that Fox is going to need help, and after finding out that their Quasar Sabers have found Falco and Krystal worthy, pass the sabers on to them.

Fox finally embraces the heritage of the Lost Galaxy Rangers, as well as Falco and Krystal. The three then set off for the cave. Krystal, sensing not only Mick and Star Wolf inside, but Gruumm as well, warns Fox in advance. Fox then decides he needs to go in alone, seeing that he doesn't want Falco or Krystal getting hurt. He has Krystal and Falco cover their exit.

After rushing in and surprising Mick, along with Wolf, Gruumm, and Panther, Fox morphs into the Lost Galaxy Red Ranger, this time fully embracing the power he has been given. Fox out-powers Wolf and Panther. But even with their combined strength, Fox and Mick still have trouble with Gruumm. That is, until the mysterious Green In-Space Ranger, Shade appears...

Like Mick's morph, Fox's Ranger form has a few key differences from the norm; mainly the helmet. However, most of the general appearance remains intact. Also, due to Fox being the new Lost Galaxy Red Ranger, he has full access to the Red Ranger's arsenal; that includes everything from the Lights of Orion, to the Red Armored Ranger Battlizer.
