[CHARITY] Agnus et pastor canibus
***The artwork has been booked and sold.***
Greetings everyone!
I hope you have a wonderful day today, I want to share a piece of artwork I did about two months ago for a local charity that was held by my former university in fight against the Covid-19 pandemic that is currently affecting everyone. The online art exhibition was held on Instagram as a digital platform since we cannot do it in conventional art gallery. The exhibition is over so I'm allowed to publish my art contribution to my main gallery here on FA.
I will be sharing all the information about this exhibition that I involved down below as well as the artwork description, enjoy the artwork and please do take care of yourself during this tough times. <3
Cheers!

General Description
“Agnus et pastor canibus” or The lamb and shepherd dogs, is a depiction about an on going pandemic that our mankind are dealing with throughout early January 2020 up until June 2020 where this artwork was made.
This simple illustration was done with watercolor on paper, featuring three figures in which the two of them are anthropomorphic shepherd dogs, a Border Collie and a German Shepherd, where as the third figure is a lamb that can be seen wearing a face mask, a relevant kind of icon that everybody understand. The shepherd dogs can be seen accompanying the lamb that appears to be ill.
In this illustration, the shepherd dogs are trying to cover the lamb with a purple blanket in hope giving comfort while the lamb is recovering. The shepherd dogs can be seen with their shepherd stick, giving the audience about their duty as a herding dogs.
Artist Interpretation
As an artist I always like to put subject matter that are important to myself, I’d like to observe current situations that is happening around me and try to capture those moments in an illustration. The theme I choose for this particular art piece was a shepherd, a person who tends and guide their sheep.
The two anthropomorphic figures, the Border Collie and the German Shepherd dog are important fictional figures who made a significant impact both in my artistic career and my life. The two are loving couple and has been together since forever. Through them I can share my life stories.
When it comes to making an art illustration, I enjoy the process of ‘stitching’ together every objects or shapes that I put in one blank piece of paper and often time I found new meanings on certain objects during the sketching process. In this illustration the lamb is a representation of people’s suffering from the Covid-19 pandemic, unlike religious symbol “Agnus Dei” which is Lamb of God, this lamb is a symbol of life itself. Life as we all know are meant to be preserve and we have to do our best dealing with this pandemic for our children and future generation, hence the lamb can also be as representation of our young.
Face mask is another simple but an important subject matter in this illustration, it is an important piece of protection to slow the spread of the virus, however in this particular art piece, only the lamb that is wearing a mask but the shepherd dogs are not wearing any. I want to show ignorance that is present among the people who would rather not wearing face mask especially when travelling outdoors, as sweet it looks on our two shepherds without face mask, it is actually an obscured reminder that we are all in this together and we should look after each other, just like our anthropomorphic collie looking at his shepherd.
The other subject matter in this illustration would be the blanket, during this time of trouble we all want to make ourselves safe and comfortable and the act that is our anthropomorphic German Shepherd doing, covering the lamb with the blanket represent the kindness that most of us need. The two anthropomorphic figures are representation for medical professionals, essential workers, and all the volunteers who are working hard in the front lines during this Covid-19 pandemic, captured within the two figures of the shepherd dogs.
The last two subject matters in this illustration are the color purple an the shepherd sticks, can’t say much about it but in this illustration I made it as a representation of faith on certain religious view. Faith makes us stronger when hope seems to fail and we do our best herding our own lives like a good shepherd caring for their flock.
Thank you all for viewing, I hope you like this one! Please do leave a comment if you like and share it to your friends and family! =)

Me too! I feel accomplished because to be honest, my submission didn't get that many eyes from those local collectors during the exhibition and I'm thankful that it has a home. more art sold means more we can donate for a good cause. :D
Im rather curious about the general populations reaction to anthropomorphic art.
Most of general population in my region seems to see anthro art as a common animal art related to storybook children and Aesop's fables.
That makes me smile, when I imagine the fable called "Think twice what O-ring you fetch to your Shepherd". -> https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35716273/
Creating art illustration that tells stories is one of the way for us artists to share our imagination! :D
The lamb puts the mask on before it goes in or else all the store have to close again
Thank you very much! ^^
Let's hope for the best that the pandemic will be over soon!
