Okay guys, This is a story i'm writing called Life Across The Sea. ***It contains relations between two males, so if that's not your cup of tea, turn away now.*** It's about an otter and a coyote who have been together for a long time and have just graduated high school. They have decided they want tot ake their relationship further and live together. Their parents disapprove of their relationship, so they pack all their belongings and head for the airport to board a plane to Ireland. (The Grass Is Always Greener)
Riley grinned as he saw Desmond's truck pull up in the driveway. He took his heavy bags full of clothes and all his other wordly possessions, and snuck out quietly to the car. It was only 4:00 AM, so his family was asleep. He dragged the hefty luggage out to the coyote's car, slinging the bags in the bed and tying them down, then hopping in next to him, licking him softly on the cheek. "So, you ready to go?" Desmond asked the energetic otter boy. Riley nodded vigorously, pulling out two plane tickets and handing him one. "Back up slowly, I don't want them waking up..." he said nervously, fiddling with the end of his tail. Desmond nodded and back up at a deathly slow clip, then slowly accelerated as they pulled away from the house. Riley wore a saddened smile, unhappy to leave his family, but at the same time, estatic to begin a new life somewhere where he and Desmond could be happy, free from the judgement of their families.
Riley snuck his hand up to the coyote's side, clasping his paw with the other's. Desmond smiled softly, tail swaying gently to the music on the radio. Riley's brilliant green eyes shone slightly with the light of the breaking dawn. Desmond laughed and patted his head comfortingly. "It's gonna all work out, Riles. You'll see." Riley nodded. He would doubt the words from anyone else, but coming from Desmond, it sounded like a promise he knew he would keep.
They drove past palm trees and sandy beaches, making Riley slightly sad to see them go, as Florida flew by the duo. Each mile felt like a chain in a link shattering, and the promise of a new life rushing at then rapidly. About an hour later, they drove up to the port where the freighter was, parking the car on the massive ship and paying the machine, waving as the ship pulled away, bringing the truck to the port not far from Dublin, where they would be landing. They took the shuttle to the airport and went to the gate, where they waited again, much to Riley's dismay. He hated waiting, he just wanted to be there already. Finally, they boarded the flight. They plopped down next to eachother, snuggling up close and quickly falling asleep as the plane took off, carrying them to their freedom.
They arrived about 5 hours later, tired and hungry. They grabbed lunch at a pub and found their hotel, dragging their luggage into the lobby as the concierge bowed, albeit with a grimace, as he carried the luggage to their room. They walked in to the modest, small flat, where the proceeded to immediately turn on the television and flop onto the bed, cuddling up and, once again, falling asleep.
The pair awoke at 4:00 PM, restored from their draining journey. They decided to do some sightseeing for the day, looking around and buying souveniers. They wouldn't be staying in Dublin, they were just staying the night. They planned on picking up the truck the next day and driving out to Jeremiah's house the next day. Jeremiah was a long-time friend of Desmond, who moved out to Ireland after colledge. He and Desmond had continued talking through E-mails after Jeremiah had moved. Desmond had explained their situation to him, and he had offered to let them live with him, at least until they could afford a place of their own.
They returned at 11:00PM, exhausted. They showered and immediately collapsed, holding eachother close, tails intertwined. They had another big trip ahead of them, Desmond thought as he slowly drifted into slumber. Riley dreamed of what Jeremiah's house looked like, since he knew nothing about the man, other than the fact he was a wolf and a freind of Desmond.
