Based on the commercials made by the Protegent Antivirus Software company. Now, for those of you who don't know, Protegent is a computer antivirus made by an Indian company; some claim it's a scam, while others have said it actually works, though not very well. The product is mostly known for the commercials made to advertise it, which are poorly made but popular for being "so bad that they're good", and have also been made into a meme. I know some of you will tell me that the commercials are old news, and that it's dumb to reference memes in media (it's one reason why Powerpuff Girls 2016 gets so much hate), but bear with me. I made this because I was inspired to, not to be "hip" and "cool". There's also more to it than just making fun of the commercials, so try to enjoy it for what it is. At least you finally get to see something based on a preschool show that's not a crappy GoAnimate video about the characters getting grounded!
Anyway, one of the most notable things about the Protegent commercials is that the company's mascot looks almost like a carbon copy of the main character in the children's educational show, Super Why. Matter of fact, I actually WATCHED that show when I was younger, which is probably why I became so interested in the whole Protegent thing. In doing this comic, I had fun remembering a childhood favorite.
Now, just so you're aware: in the actual show, Super Why (or Whyatt, as he's called in his "mild-mannered citizen" form) is a human boy. The reason I made him an anthropomorphic dog is because I figured he'd fit more with the style and tone of my comic if I drew him like a character I'd create. The show Super Why is a preschool show, and my comic has a 90s cartoon aesthetic, resembling the likes of Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, and Ed, Edd n' Eddy. I figured if I drew Super Why the way he looks in his show, it would just look jarring when he gave off a super exaggerated expression or his eyes popped out of his head.
Enjoy!
