Oh yes, I'm very much fond of the concept of a singular sentient species. There has been a trend lately in fiction in which different races of animals are being used to symbolize racism among humans. I find this problematic because humans are all literally the same race. I think stories in which one race of animals are discriminated upon for being predators can be damaging for people in real life to watch because the implication can be that we are different animals when we are not.
