Meet Cecil's Parents!: Randy Rancid and Lily Tigris 💕
Well folks, we are kicking off Skunk Week with a bit of a reboot!
In the backstory for my main OC, Cecil the Tiger-Skunk, I had written that he was born from a one-night stand between a Skunk and a Tiger. However, after thinking about it for some time, that just didn’t sit right with me, so I decided to flesh his parents’ backstories out a bit.
The Punk Skunk Rocker above goes by the stage name Randy Rancid and the lady tiger in tight red dress is named Lily Tigris. These two are Cecil’s father and mother respectively.
Randy is very similar to Justin Bieber/Michael Jackson in that he was a child pop star who was actually quite gifted musically from a very young age. However, as he grew older he realized that everyone around him viewed him as a commodity more than an actual artist.
Randy felt utterly trapped in a music career he no longer wanted, but was bound to by an ironclad contract. As a result, he attempted to sabotage his own career by taking on the persona of Randy Rancid, who mixed elements of punk rebellion with infantile clothes to reflect his childhood he believed fame had stolen from him.
However, to his utter shock, his new look and sound were wholly embraced by his audience, who viewed his persona as a statement on how older generations attempted to silence the youth of today by treating them like ignorant children.
With not many other options available, he began to behave rather poorly on set and during interviews, hoping the music label would become fed up with him and release him from his contract. Unfortunately, audiences loved his bad behavior in public as it fit quite well with his punk image.
Still, it was proving quite difficult to find a bodyguard who would tolerate Randy’s shenanigans, so the music label decided to take a different approach by hiring Lily Tigris. Lily was a trained mixed martial artist, so she was certainly tough enough to act as Randy’s bodyguard, but more importantly was the fact that she also had experience as a nanny on her resumé.
Since Randy was known for his childish pranks and tantrums, the label hoped that someone with childcare experience might be able to manage him better than the muscleheads that they had previously hired.
At first, Lily found the whole situation quite strange, but once she started leaning into some of her old babysitting tricks, she came to see Randy as a naïve, lonely young man who had never really had a true childhood.
Rather than be the music labels stooge, Lily actually befriended Randy and they snuck out often to do things Randy had always wanted to do, like going to the planetarium, the amusement park, and even a ‘Build-A-Bear’ type store.
Seeing that Lily actually cared about him as a person caused Randy to emerge from his depression and begin to actually find joy in his music again. However, to his utter surprise, he also realized that he was beginning to fall in love with Lily.
He then tried to behave like a ‘grown-up’ in order to woo Lily, although she thought that he was just playing a prank on her. When she described his ‘grown-up’ act as adorable, he somberly asks if that’s all she saw him as.
When she expresses confusion at what he meant, he leaned and tenderly kissed her upon her lips. While at first she was shocked by this, she surprisingly didn’t pull away and even began to reciprocate, realizing that she had developed feelings for him as well.
After a night of passion together, Randy had never been happier. He had fully embraced his musical career once more and began to write songs again. Lily was ecstatic to see Randy finally overcoming his depression, but her own happiness was short-lived when she soon discovered that she was pregnant.
Lily knew that a child would be a huge burden to bear, which could easily send Randy spiraling again, especially now that he was finally embracing his musical career.
Feeling like she had no other options, Lily abruptly left Randy without saying goodbye. She considered getting an abortion, for it would make things so much easier, but despite herself, she couldn’t bring herself to terminate the pregnancy, especially knowing that it was Randy’s child.
Ultimately she carried the baby to term and she gave birth to a healthy baby Skunk-Tiger boy. She relinquished the child after giving birth and tried to go on with her life. However, a few months later Randy finally caught up with her.
He tearfully asked to know why she had left. She attempted to say that he didn’t really need her anymore once his career was finally getting back on track, but he immediately saw through the lie and demanded the truth.
Her own tears began to fall as she revealed the pregnancy to Randy, who was utterly shocked upon hearing the news. After processing what he had just learned, he told Lily that he had searched for her with the sole goal of bringing her back, for he knew that he couldn’t go on without her in his life.
He then continued that there was more than enough room in his heart for one more, and he asked if they could go retrieve the baby and live together as a family.
Lily asked if he was serious and he jokingly replied who better to take care of a baby than a big baby like himself.
Lily and Randy then immediately went to the hospital to see if their baby was still there, but unfortunately said that he had been already entered into the foster system.
The fact that Lily hadn’t provided the baby with a name meant that it was incredibly difficult to find any information about where he had been sent. Randy and Lily tried for months on end to find any leads, but they only found dead ends.
The loss of their child was an incredibly painful experience for both of them, but it motivated Randy and Lily to both finally take their lives in a new direction. Randy was finally able to leave his major music label and hit the road as a touring indie musician, with Lily acting as his manager.
Eventually Randy met some other like-minded artists who also had a thing for punk rock and padded rumps, and together they formed a band called the ‘Diaper Pail Boys!’
After many years of touring, a company called Storwan Industries invited the band to provide some music for a string of advertisements for their new line of products.
Lily and the Band met up with a young representative from the company by the name of Cecil, who gave them a tour of the company and also sheepishly admitted that he had been a fan of Randy’s music for years.
Sensing a connection to Cecil, Randy and Lily brought up the possibility that he could have been the son that they put up for adoption all those years ago. A quick test later confirmed their suspicions and the family was reunited among tears of joy.
Randy is absolutely ecstatic to have his son back in his life, and he is eager to make up for lost time. He acts like a doting parent for Cecil, although he tends to treat him more a like a toddler than a young adult.
This is especially jarring to anyone how sees the two together, due to the fact that Randy’s short stature and youthful features despite the fact that he’s approaching middle age have other anthros assume at first glance that Cecil is the parent and that Randy is the child.
As for Lily, while she is quite happy to finally be reunited with her son, she can’t escape the guilt she feels for her role in him ending up in the foster care system, especially after she learns about the neglect he faced.
This leads her to put up a bit of an emotional wall at first when dealing with Cecil, but eventually he tells her that he holds no ill will towards what happened, and that he’s simply glad to finally have his parents in his life for the first time.
After their heartfelt reunion, Lily and Randy decide to continue to tour with the Diaper Pail Boys, but promise to visit Cecil regularly, especially now that they know he is in good hands at Storwan Industries.
