An extremely acute sense of smell can be a young wolf's greatest weakness. Legoshi's snout is particularly fine-tuned so at the behest of his grizzled panda mentor, some unique 'training' methods are debuted. Naturally, Legoshi only finds out at the last moment that the training involves the rancid stink of that panda's boots. It seems Gohin is willing to take any measure necessary to help his patients!

I agree, the characters are amazing and Gouhin is my favourite and also Ibuki and Gosha =). Worths to read
Now that's certainly some intense training.
But effective! It's s hard to complain about the smell when your face is that deep in a boot
Indeed, I think it's safe to say that Legoshi is enjoying it.
Bears are plantigrades. Gouhin is a panda bear, which means he puts pressure in the entirety of both soles. This leads to a smell powerful enough to accomplish results in Legoshi's training.
I like to think all anthros in that universe would have similar effects since everyone's plantigrade :)
It's all for the important goal of curing his predator inhibitions after all!
