Joan Stoddert - By Guttertongue
GutterTongue worked on this beautiful presentation for a character i played by now almost 2 years ago. It was a memorable campaign and i wanted her displayed in all her glory.
Okay. soooo.... she"s a slime. A naive thing, but also very charismatic... and she could punch like being hit by a truck if needed.
The idea i went for this character was that the base race was basically a slime fighter, no, not the oozemorph that came up (honestly) a lot later.
I took out the usual advanced race guide and started up modifying a human until it more or less met the specifications needed then choose classes and powers to meet what she could do.
A base of snakebite Brawler because i wanted her to be good at "punching baddies in the face" but i really hated the mechanic of the "loose feat that you can have for a minute", it also helped cement she was a team player as she would do more damage in tandem rather than by herself, the luck-based somewhat rogue-ish "archaeologist" bard for the spells which would explain what she could do as a slime, and also because she had a ton of luck-based feats from her "human origins"... a dash of iroran-styled ranger because i wanted her to be able to still kick some ass despite having too few levels in brawler... and then most of her "career" was the dragon disciple path, because i wanted her to basically be a damage sponge that could hit really hard, but somewhat untrained in the art of war... also because i liked the idea she could transform into a "brine dragon" which is basically an acid-based dragon without a breath weapon that stuns people with it"s melee attacks. She... could have been optimized better, but the concept of this character was never optimization it was to see "if it could be worked"... sooo... yeah.
That said... she was deeply naive and cutesy most of the time, knowing zilch about how the world worked and with the intelligence of a sponge unable to ever learn about it.
The real kicker is that being a slime... good aligned and with mostly healing spells... she was also a Lamashtu worshiper... because i really wanted to drive in that she had no clue how things worked... so basically she went around misinterpreting things in the most naive and inncoent way... and ... honestly... it worked a lot more than i thought it would.
I made friends with the hydra that was supposed to level the city (we were playing kingmaker) i went around appealing to the good side of things... and always a word about how "monsters are monsters only because people expect the worst out of them" it was... wonderful ❤️
Stupid too... you have no idea how much i laughed... but it was good laughs.
Sooo this is her. My naive, innocent, luck-based, really beautiful slime lady, portrayed by a wonderful artist.
