John is the guy we all hate to love instead of love to hate. Growing fonder (or more annoyed) of John's arrogance is like a part of growing up for Ginga fans. And there's not a dry eye in the house when he dies in Plantson: The Dog Sequel because of his sacrifice. Love him or don't, he's a spirited fighter. You basic hoes better start reading the manga, because his stand-off with Riki and what he learns from it are some of the best parts of his character arc. Nobody could ask for a better frenemy turned bestie.

He's a pretty basic GSD here, tbh. I leaned more towards his anime design because I just think it looks truer to the breed, especially since his head gets more and more pumpkin shaped as time goes by and Ginga's art becomes staler and staler. I gave him a bit of coat color variety because #aesthetic and a couple more dog tags then anyone else because he's probably worth a lotta money to his owner. Not worth enough to go find him in the mountains, though, lol
