Talk, I shall listen.
What is a dragon's place in a civilized world? To a primeval creature, it's such an alien environment. How does one find their place while keeping their dignity intact? In the ever-changing reality, the powerful draconic mind is one virtue that will never be discounted. Reign of strength and fear may fall victim to progress, but wisdom and a sharp wit may secure the once unchallenged lords of the sky a respected place in the future. The archetype of the Dragon Ovrerlord, Tyrant, Sovereign evolves, making way for the Dragon Arbiter, Counselor, Scholar.
The canon Arcaizen was born in times where dragonkin had to face such a test of time. To be ever-feral, ever-defiant meant to fade from history, eventually. The star of the Elderbloods was setting on the horizon of a new era, its light waning from the world. The braids in his mane signify a new kind of dragon - one brought up in tolerance of civilized species, conditioned to live in symbiosis with hominids and beastmen that settled the lands far and wide. A dragon that will still never bow, never serve - yet posesses the insight to befriend the new dominant forces in the times to come, preserving a position of authority and respect with merits of intellect and foresight.
I truly love this wonderful traditional piece that I got as a gift from my dear danero It exemplifies the calmness and dignity of the Dragon Scholar archetype, one that I favor for its ability to endure in a changing, evolving world. It truly captures the feeling I wish to emanate with the character of Arcaizen. It is but a glimpse of a bigger story, but the personality is to be easily seen in this portrait. Cheers to other fantasy lovers and worldbuilding enthusiasts out there :)
Masterful art is the sweet fruit of Danero's work.
Arcaizen is a creation and property of mine.
