"Wait!" Pinion blurted before the parakeet leader could get too far. "I... I mean, how do you..?" It shook its head, trying to formulate a question. It felt as if it was close to getting some vital piece of knowledge, something that would make everything easier to understand. But how could it say so? "This feels really important," it said. "Nobody in my flock likes me and neither do any of the parakeets. You say I have something surrounding me but I don't know what it is so I don't know how to make it better."
That wasn't strictly true. The truth was, Pinion had always felt different somehow, but it had put that down to being dissatisfied with living in a cage and with being young. Web had once admitted to being bored of the cage and Pinion had tried to build a friendship with the other flamingo upon that, but after a while they had drifted apart. Worse, Web had started to act as if Pinion represented some kind of peril.
"I'm sorry, flamingo." And with that, the parakeet leader flew away, its wings audible in the gloom.
Pinion watched as it disappeared into the throng of green and blue birds, and sighed.
There's nothing more Pinion can do with the parakeets; they're avoiding it. All you can do at this point is leave the parakeets be, but there are lots of choices after this for what to do next.
