You want to back Pinion up? All right then!
Pinion kept its wings outstretched, unwilling to fold them until the stork showed signs of relaxing too. Surely the stork would calm down in a moment and there wasn't much either bird could do to escalate the situation any further, with the fence separating them. "I'm looking at you, stork."
For a moment it looked like the stork was going to calm down. It dropped its wings slightly and Pinion saw uncertainty in the other bird's eyes. The flamingo reciprocated by dropping its own pose a little so that they might talk together peacefully.
Then the stork launched forward and kicked the fence once more, flapping its wings for good measure. "Fuck off you piece of shit!" it growled as Pinion closed its eyes against the sudden gust, and then the grey bird stalked angrily away.
Pinion watched the stork retreat, aware that its wings were still unfurled and its feathers ruffled. The flamingo shook itself and walked away. The conversation had been attention-grabbing and unsettling enough that most of the other flamingos had noticed and raised their heads enough to peer at Pinion through their back-feathers. Beak and Covert lowered their resting legs to get away from Pinion as it walked by, although Pinion had no desire to stand near any other flamingo in that moment. No, it wanted space, and found it.
And that's that. Pinion's got some things to think about. Why not decide on its next course of action in the hub section?
