Oh man me too! God it's been one of my main shows ever since it STARTED. And I've loved watching the character models grow and get better and better ~~especially the grimm~~

Honestly, rip monty of course, but they have gotten SO MUCH BETTER at animating in the last what is it 3 seasons? LIke leagues better lolz
I agree~ The Grimm have gotten ALOT more creative, like did you know the creator for the Apathy Grimm had to keep taking breaks cuz designing them was taking so much out of him mentally? Their also based on Reapers from Firefly and one other thing but I'm not sure what
Their my fav Grimm but also the ones that gave me nightmares for weeks XD

Oh god I LOVED the Apathy. They were genuinely SCARY. Like every other Grimm is of course fantastic, I love them, but the Apathy just holds a special place as being CREEPY. Even the Nuckelavee wasn't that ominous.
And of course, pour one out for Monty.

Though they havent built on their relationship since so I'm like... Did that even happen? Are we gonna act like it didnt?

My only gripe about the current volume really though is that since introducing Clover it almost feels like they're trying to force them together? Or at the very least try and make Qrow's character growth/betterment a RESPONSE to Clover's presence And to me it's really hindering Qrow. Like we started the Volume with some GOOD Huntsmen content. PUNCH that sabertooth bby. He back on his GAME. And after that? He just.. occasionally talks? Randomly shoots his gun at grimm? Has ship-baitey dialouge with Clover, Doesn't really seem to accomplish much?
I'm praying they make him the one to cut down Mr MurderHoboYouKnowWho. Like. He's got a personal GRUDGE against that psycho.

I think they also took a break from him cuz of the whole contreversy with his original voice actor, Vic? He was fired from Multiple companys cuz of sexual misconduct allegations [I didnt keep up to see if they were true or not] and there was talk of removing qrow all together as well, which as you see they kept him in the end

Oh I kept up HARD with the Vic case and it's honestly one of the big reasons I've really lost my faith and respect in RT as a company. It has nothing to do with the VA's *aside from Monica* It was all defamation. And it even came out that there was a whole ass email that Monica sent to the RT execs to basically be like 'hey I'm making this shit up, let's get rid of this guy'

Vic will ALWAYS be Qrow no matter what. He made that character who he is. Jason is doing an okay enough job sure and it isn't his fault Vic is no longer voicing my edgy husbando but instead of admitting they were wrong RT just stuck to their wholly incorrect and unethical guns and didn't even OFFER to rehire Vic. Which tbh, I miss him dearly. I miss that raspy voice. But he's better off away from the arguably sinking ship that is RT these days.

And glad to find someone who's into RWBY who also doesn't immediately jump on my shit cause I don't approve of a gay ship when it's clearly being forced as hell lmfao. I like my pairings to D E V E L O P.

Enough of that tho! OUTFITS! I LOVE Ruby's too and I love that her hair is almost mimicking her uncle's. Yang's I do like honestly cause I'm a sucker for like the pseudo aviator kinda feel but I can get that the pants are kinda weird. Weiss's has grown on me but I still prefer her older outfits and Blake's is nice. Her hair is cute af too.

Unlike Jaune's lmfao.

And honestly I'm pro LGBT, I'm non-binary and pan myself *shrugs* so its pretty cool to see relationships that arent hetero happen as well, especially modern animation

I'm pro whatever kind of ship as long as it's done right lol. You can't just throw two characters together with vaguely shippy circumstances and call it development.
Like I'm by no means a rabid Bumblebee fan (even tho I do like it) but I stand by the ship and will defend that is HAS been in the background the whole time very slowly building up. Could it have been done better? sure. But did it just come outta nowhere? not even close.
tbh tho I'd have been okay with Freezerburn too. They were thowin out some HUGE vibes with Yang and Weiss before Blake came back into the picture.
AND I KNOW. God I've talked about IIlya before with my group and like. She's such a WASTED character. It's like they made her JUST to develop Blake further and then she up and vanishes once her job is done and that's such a shame because so much could have been done with her character going forward.

I think we haven't seen Sun, Neptune or team CFVE either cause they're all in Vacuo. That book that came out 'After The Fall' actually follows CFVE for its duration. I can't really blame them for focusing on one continent's storyline at a time though

I think my main issue with the Bumblebee ship is it just sorta *is*
Like sure it had been building up
But then it kinda straight up died after they all split up, and suddenly they were together again and then yang and blake kinda just *were*
Again it felt super forced, has barely been explored, only hinted at in very obvious hints and yeah thats about it
And YES Illya, she was such a GREAT FAUNUS type, like again CHAMELEON SKIN, its such a great design choice compared to having a tail or ears or rock skin??? It affects her whole body and she can use it in the future easily.
And ooooohhh I only follow the anime, and chibi rwby, which actually did a better job than actual RWBY at giving the characters oh I dont know CHARACTER

Ren/Nora- Defeat childhood Grimm- Done
And something else they pointed out is whoever they finished they seem to be shipping as well
Case and point, ren and nora- which we wanted but still counts, and blake and yang
I honestly have only really seen ruby as asexual cuz I've never seen her as the romantic type with her "cutie" personality but it feels like they are *trying* to ship her with oscar and I *think* Oscar is like 16ish???? maybe older by now, who knows.
I just thought it was an interesting perspective since it does make a point of the other characters not having a "goal" per say in the series other than killing Grimm and keeping the humans safe

I can definitely get that with Bumblebee and won't deny that it really had its lapses. A lot of the 'evidence' you really had to pay attention to and read into a bit and sure, there's good ways to do a subtle build-up but if it goes over most people's heads it's not really done that well.

Also can't disagree with that youtube comment either. I can't disagree with it at all and part of that issue I really think has to do with, unfortunately, Monty passing away. The show and by extent the characters lost the brain behind them and sure, Monty was a man of simple pleasures, he liked action and cool anime shit. Those left behind after him had to scrape together some kind of cohesive plot to carry on with the volumes and the show has definitely suffered at times due to that (let's not talk about the entire volume they all spent basically just in one damn house in Mistral and offered exposition) That being said though I think they're getting back on track. The past two volumes and especially this volume thus far have felt very directional, they've felt like they're GOING somewhere. it's just a matter of playing catch up really with character's goals.
Honestly I wanna know wtf is goin on with Ren this volume and what his deal is. Time's running out for an explanation there lol.

And yea there's been so many strange possible ship starting moments with Ruby. There was that one moment in Argus with her and Jaune where it was like they were THINKING about kissing. Nothing came of that, then as you said it's now seeming like they're trying to push Oscar which. Not sure how I feel about that tbh.

I wouldn't say I feel like Ruby is ace but I definitely don't take her as being really interested in a relationship rn. She's got a LOT going on and a lot on her shoulders and she's really been starting to take responsibility for all that. She's starting to become a good leader and a good Huntress. Maybe even bordering on taking too much onto her shoulders. That'd be an interesting angle to see.
