Rec has a difficult time going out in public, as being cursed to be the smallest person in a crowd can make getting around unscathed a challenge. Even traversing the city with a large and protective friend has its issues, as Rec is often shrunk to a point where he has difficult time keeping up with Marivn's comparatively massive stride and his voice is often too small to easily hear in noisy areas. Despite Marvin's offers, he is too embarrassed to let the moose pick him up and carry him in front of people (regardless of how much he would enjoy it otherwise). Rec's pride causes him to refuse Marvin's help, making shopping trips and outings together slow and awkward affairs. For all of Marvin's great patience with others, Rec managed to eventually wear it all down with his stubborness.
One day as the two met up to go on a shopping trip, Marvin put his hands on his hips and simply towered over Rec, giving the snake a domineering glare. One aspect of Rec's curse that Marvin observed was that not only would the snake shrink to be the smallest person in sight, but he would also dwindle in size whenever he was intimidated or overpowered. As close of friends as they were, Rec still found himself very intimidated by Marvin's sudden overpowering demeanor, and he quickly shrank down to less two inches tall as his mind raced trying to figure out what the gargantuan moose had in store for him. He cowered as Marvin bent down and plucked him up between two immense fingers, though he was quick to notice how gently he was being held between them. They dextrously lifted Rec into the air and sat him down on a large round bar, and when the fingers parted Rec realized he was now sitting on Marvin's earring as if it was a seat on a carnival ride.
Marvin's expression changed from his menacing grimace to a warm smile, and Rec was quick to understand what was going on; he was too small for anyone to notice him, and he was close enough to Marvin's ear that Marvin could hear anything Rec said to him at that size. The two quickly grew happy with the compromize as Marvin strolled into town, with Rec completely unnoticed and Marvin able to finally move at a comfortable pace. People gave Marvin strange looks as the massively-built moose went about his day seemingly talking to himself, but he didn't care as the enthusiastic conversations he was having with his little buddy were more than worth it.
This was a quick render inspired by this tweet that I stumbled upon today! When I first modeled him, I gave Marvin an earring as something of an afterthought; his ears aren't normally visible from many angles but I thought he would look nice with some kind of piercing or jewelry. I'm glad I included it though because there is a lot of fun potential with jewelry and piercings when it comes to macro/micro. Overall this was a lot of fun to make as I was able to set it up really quickly, which is very satisfying.
