Even Longer December - ©2019 by (((Trevor Patrick)))
(Fimbulvetr December)
-always know it
-always sense it,
when we're
coming to the end of the year-
(The end of one set of trials)
Coming to the end of your life.
(Won't be back for a while...)
Coming to the end of all things.
(Moments like tears in rain)
Coming to the end we all know.
(The last thing that's lost is your name...)

This is another simple, Free-Verse piece that comes from a number of inspirations, the pop culture ones of which, most people will probably readily suss out for themselves. The deeper inspiration from which it all sprang from, however, comes from a quote in one of the 'Original Six' of Frank Herbert's "Dune" series of novels (It's been so long since I've read them, that, even though he may have used the quote more than once, the one I remember best is the instance in which it was used in "Chapterhouse: Dune" -
"All living things can sense their end approaching..."
"All living things can sense their end approaching..."
