I think it works, for the most part.
The tail looks pretty good, though you can see the individual "sections" of tail too much.
The reflection on the headfur should be dialed back a bit, it looks really wet or greasy.

Dang, I actually thought this was a model for a second! Just a couple small details that give it away though, mostly in the hair and tail fur where you can see the sharp angles.

The lighting is what makes this seem so photorealistic, very good job
