It's called a rotary phone. I had one growing up, then they switched to button phones. You can't really use a rotary phone now on because of the time it takes to place a call and the phone systems we use now aren't compatible with the rotary phone. Not that you would want to use it if you could, they had the habit of pinching fingers.
