(If anyone ever reads this…)
Alright, so I wanted to submit a story before Christmas, but it was never meant to be… I’ll probably finish something shortly after New Years but I wanted to submit SOMETHING this year and I conveniently found this earlier today while looking for my yearbook in my cupboard.
So anyway, this is a small extract from a project I did in Standard 7 where we had to make up our own philosophy based on an existing one, either agreeing or disagreeing with it. I was given Plato’s works and this is what I came up with. I think I transferred it properly, if not and there are spelling mistakes or incorrect words I blame it on the fact that I need to get some sleep.
This isn’t how I wanted to start as a ‘writer’ on FA but whatever. I’ll find time and energy to write a proper story soon. Oh yeah and the picture isn't mine. I wish I knew who did it to give them credit. Night. Zzzzzzzzzz
Many people desire to be immortal. Little do they know that this, under the wrong circumstances, can be a curse rather than a blessing.
For what is the point of living forever if there is no one by your side to stem the tide of loneliness that an eternal existence brings with it?
What is the point of an undying breath if it is not caught by someone each and every day?
Why would you want a heart that will never cease beating if you have no lover to give it to?
Why should your body be warm forevermore unless it is warmed solely by the embrace of your mate?
Immortality on its own is meaningless.
A mere moment with a soul mate is euphoria without comparison.

*nods* i couldn t agree more with what you wrote there.
even though i am not immortal, but i am well familiar to the tide of loneliness that you describe.

Yes, it seems all too common now days. Sad really. Keep your chin up though, there's someone out there for you! It can strike you when you least expect it, you just might be looking in the wrong places.
*chuckles* don t worry about me - i recently found someone who freed me of the worst of it - time will tell if it will last.
Somewhat short, you'll have to agree, but I think it is very decent.
And though the general message is not new, it is well worded.
Don't worry about making a start, either. People remember only what they like, so try anything you wish at any time.
G'luck!

Thank you. Yes I know it's short, but it wasn't originally designed to be a poem. When you look at other philosophies they are much shorter than this.
Wow, thank you for the fantastic advise! I never thought about it like that... That's one heck of a confidence boost! Thank you very much!
