Really digging how you opted to handle the scales and flesh here! The metallic portions really come across well, and the more fleshy areas have a real volume to them. Great work!

I'm trying to learn how to paint in classical oil painting style, especially baroque and Dutch golden age for so long, and this piece just has exactly the qualities I'm aiming for.
If you have a few moments to spare, may I ask if you have any general advice? I feel that there is about both the lighting and the brushwork that's critical to get this result. Are you using layers to imitate scumbling and glazing?
