A commission for the awesome DiscardingSabot of his specialist shark, Sabot!
He was sent to secure a sunken nuclear submarine, as concerns of it might attracting unwanted scavengers arose. The fears were not misplaced, as he quickly discovered a small team of unknown divers around the ship, likely to salvage warheads for the black market ... Luckily, he has the element of surprise, and the training to handle this situation!
Because of the waters are highly contaminated, he is forced to wear a special drysuit to protect him from radiation leaking from the damaged reactors. A huge compromise for a shark, but there are no other options.
..
This was a really intense piece of work, given the amount of equipment and overall scene, but I'm really happy with the result! We tried several different ideas, poses, angles, till we came up with this one!
Really enjoyed doing the different materials, learning a bit of info about military gear, and the completely different diving gear setup here ;w;
Also, sharks! <3
Hope you'll like him!

On one hand, im glad to see ADS. On other hand, i wonder how in the hell did a NATO-country guy got his hands on it! D:<
Considering that NATO blames Russia for all of world's problems nowadays as if its cold war again, i just heavily doubt it
Fair enough, well there's a ton of possibilities for it really. It's up to your mind really to decide what you think suits it best
Ahh its all made up alternate-timeline stuff at the end of the day!
Like Rainbow Six! Russian spec ops working with the French and the USA and all that :D
Like Rainbow Six! Russian spec ops working with the French and the USA and all that :D
But thats the point, you still cant use russian weapons as a french or american and vice versa there too xD
Haha well, this is a setting where anyone can get anything!
What im trying to say is, ADS is not a common AK or AR that exist in hundreds thousands and that you can get anywhere, no. ADS is a very specialized, high tech piece of gear, heavily reserved for the nation that owns it. Seeing a NATO-country guy use it then implies that he got it by either stealing it directly from an inland Russian base, or mostly likely picked it off from a murdered Russian combat diver.
You can see how such implication is unsettling. Not trying to do anything here, just explaining my reasoning and leaving my two cents :P otherwise the pic itself still looks great

IMO, 'realism'/military splurging is irrelevant when you're dealing with a fantasy universe with anthropomorphic animals.
Yes, you have shown quite the variety of gear. Being a shark I'm guessing it's an oxygenated liquid rebreather? I also like that you gave him tail pouches, very practical. I'm curious to see how this all plays out, very well presented!
Looks like the teeth of this shark are gonna be the least of their worries in these waters
They can, though they need to be purpose built for it as traditional rounds wouldn't work underwater that well from tumbling, shattering or the water simply causing the weapon to not cycle the next round and jam if not completely blow up
Daaamn, this guy makes the Russian Frogmen look like basic infantry! Nicely done on this pic ^^
I think my favourite things about this piece are the colours and the depth perception.
Despite the primary colour being blue, the greenish filter/hue makes the sea bottom seem almost otherworldly which makes it very interesting to look at. There is also the few bits of stark colour that stand out and it's just really fun to look at. ;u;
And I really like how the depth perception was handled in this, the silhouettes getting more and more faded the further away is really great! It almost feels like I'm looking at an underwater photo!
Oh, and the amount of detail you put into this is pretty dope too! :D

I think this is one of your best pics to date, seriously. The colors in this are so gorgeous, as well as the details of the environment. It really makes for tense immersion and atmosphere <33.
Me love your art! No idea why me talk like cookie monster. Too much sugar perhaps!
Was great hanging out in stream while ya worked on this one!
And I'll just say it again, awesome job on all the gear and little details

Why does a freaking shark need scuba gear?
Aside from looking cool and being in your general area of interest?

The answer is in the description -w- "Because of the waters are highly contaminated, he is forced to wear a special drysuit to protect him from radiation leaking from the damaged reactors. A huge compromise for a shark, but there are no other options."
But the rule of cool was the most important thing admittedly, gear is good!
Plus, personally I never really had a problem with sharks needing gear; same as having bird characters that don't have wings or can't fly. Some species just have appealing physical characteristics (beaks, muzzle shapes, tails, feet and so on) and keeping every trait would be sort of a compromise.

Wow...
The detail and design in these suits and characters are just awe-inspiring, and the colours go together so lovely well too.
This is amazing! <3
