I know this isn't going to go well for Cooper, but Dad could be super hot... when he's not in disciplinarian mode. lol
Isn't he? There's a pretty good chance he's going to turn out to be some sort of massive asshole, but he does have a certain rugged handsome look to him.
I'm resisting the urge to be super excited b/c I feel some abuse coming. -_- Makes me surprised that Cooper isn't the one looking for a daddy when he's older! lol
Well, it does say "love triangle" in the main story... Would it be weird or unrealistic to expect some kind of happy ending, where the three of them all end up together? Maybe Jackaloo has completely different plans, but it seems like an ending most could be satisfied with, characters and readers alike. '3'
Time will tell. I'll need to see where Cooper is coming from of course, but I am really not a fan of his so far.
I think that was the intention of why the intership was released first to make you dislike Cooper. And now this back story to make you understand where he is coming emotionally. Plus to help explain why him and Andy are friends still as adults.
Are they friends? Andy seems to tolerate him at best and Cooper is a dick in return at all times. Besties right there. lol
finished both comics i have to say i really like how Jack made this and im looking forward to chapter 2 :3
I was scared of see this wulf being unreasonable, but he asks Coop why he did so. there's hope in the world
It might not have been the first time Cooper through a Blunder like the one on the River I guess. Or Dad is super mad because he considers what could have happened. I mean a rock on the riverbed in the wrong spot and one of the two kids could have ended as a floating corpse.
I guess I am just a pessimist on this, but he said out in the middle of nowhere, instead of why did the people ask me to pick you up. He comes across as not being very fond of Cooper.
Who knows maybe I have this idealistic view of how parents should be even when angry.

lol. angry dad? yeah. most likely he's gonna say something like. It's how my dad was when he was angry. Didn't mean he didn't love me, it's just the way he was.
Perfectly put.
TRUE STORY...
I ditched my folks' car when I was 17. There wasn't much damage, but I wedged it in the ditch deep enough that it had to be pulled out.
Mom was furious. Dad made s good show of being mad in front of Mom, but he eventually pulled me aside and said:
"I didn't think you were like me, but I guess you are. I wrecked MY folks' car when I was your age".
He was actually amused by the whole thing...to my immense relief.

That feeling when you go inside the car after you and your parents met with the principal...
you really captured these types of dads well i had flash backs Good job
oh he's in trouble also great page keep up the good work
And from this point we'll find out Cooper's dad is a dickhead and it's one of the reasons why Cooper is a dickhead.
I still love this comic so far

I don't think it'd have anything to do with the dad. It's not like Cooper went on his own to do what he did to Andy. He just seems to be someone who was always easily influenced by others when he was younger. Plenty of kids were like that.
I was talking about future cooper, you know, when he pulls the 'prank' on andy before Andy's presentation thingy in the beginning of "the internship" and Cooper is just overall rude to andy through out that comic.
Besides i was joking with this comment, but i get your point :P

fair enough, and i may be looking WAAAAYYY too much into this for this comic, but that prank is kinda like the one he pulled on the canoe. he got into the habit of being mean with his pranks on people because he was easily influenced as a kid and those habits ended up carrying over to his adult life. *shrugs* like i said, probably looking waaaaayyyyy too far into this. hahah.
It's now starting to become oh so clear.
Cooper's an asshole because his father was an asshole.
Cooper's an asshole because his father was an asshole.
In my experience, no type of person is more quick to judge others than those who claim to have an open mind.
People who behave or act like assholes typically aren't "born that way" and don't "choose to behave" as they do. Their behavior is often a product of their upbringing. It doesn't explain or excuse it away, it just is what it is. If you're brought up by someone who behaves terribly towards others, it's what you know. Changing that behavior is extremely difficult, especially for those for whom professional help is out of their wallet's range.
Writing someone off as "just an asshole" and going out of your way to point out their behaviors or avoid that person entirely only serves to worsen the problem.
People like what Cooper becomes need empathy and love just as much, if not more so, than others - not hatred or dismissal.
(I say all this not in response to anyone who has so far posted here on this image, but more as a response to some reactions on The Internship postings.)

Well, good luck with that. Personally, I'd rather not surround myself with assholes, in the hope that one day they might turn into decent people. Everyone deserves a chance, maybe even two or three, but life is too short to waste it all on people who show zero respect and love for others. ( Just generally speaking, that is. As for Cooper, specifically, he'll probably turn out OK by the end of the comic. )

I know exactly how Cooper is feeling at that moment.
Love your way of drawing the caracters and moods 👍

I have a feeling that either Cooper is gonna lie to his dad about what happened and it'll end up with his dad yelling at him...
or Cooper tells the truth of his bullying, and his dad will congratulate him for picking on someone weaker.

I think there is something more going in.
He's father is not abusive, just busy. His father may be the solo one caring for because something happened to the mother.
It may even be that Cooper has another sibling that get all the attention and he barely even notice until he gets in trouble.
Cooper my possibly be acting out just for some form of attention from others. When he did what the jerky friends wanted, he smiled at that and even though Andy is always there.
