Tripwire is Flint's supposedly dead brother, when in reality he took the chance to join the other side as a realist. Eggman is winning, the resistance is GREATLY outnumbered, why fight it? Flint believes he died, this is the reason why he started to have such a jaded view on things. The recruit issue made it worse, but this is what started it.
Tripwire doesn't really hate the Resistance, but he has a defeatist view of them.
