Commission for blissthelioness :3 Of her character of the same name!
This one stopped being a quickie and more or less became a full illustration somewhere along the way. Uhh... so there you go? Bonus for commissioners and background practise for me - everybody wins :P
I feel like I'm conquering the grass. But the clouds continue to be the bane of my existence. I have my limit at one decent cloud per drawing, clearly 8|
(And no, the colour scheme isn't particularly African, but I wanted to use another colour than orange/red for a sunset for once~)
Aaanyway, I'm tired and rambling, I'll stop now! Hope you like your drawing, Bliss!

HOW DID YOU DO THAT GRASS. The lighting, the shadows, the little flowers. Kanu. Kanu pls. Kanu how u do that
Without a single hand-drawn blade of grass >8D Allll custom brushes, fweee!
But it's mostly down to the magic of the Mixer Brush, really, which I've come to appreciate lately :P Basically I started with one of my own grass brushes and shaded one clump, then I sampled it into the Mixer Brush and tadah - instant shaded grass <3 After that it's "just" a lot of tinkering with various brushes and erasers and blending modes... I think I had 12 grass layers in the end, including the flowers (which are also custom brushes~). If I wanted to really polish it off I would go over it with a "normal" paintbrush as well and do individual highlights and things, but my computer was too weak to handle the PSD file any more :C This tutorial by Aaron Blaise is super helpful on the Mixer Brush if you haven't seen it already: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWEPFWkqM68 ^^

OH MY GOD!
The grass! And the sun! And the clouds! And the way her hair moves in the wind! And her expression! And the way the light reflects off of her body! And the lighting in general!
Wow! I love this so much!
Thank you Kanu!
