I love drawing japanese themed piece and specially with some Shinto elements!
The Shimenawa is this sacred rope that you can see on the character, it is used to indicates a sacred , pure space or a place inhabited by the gods and spirits.
Since it is braided with rice straw and Ayala likes a lot braids and nature. I found this would fit right in the theme ahah!
