Happy St. Patrick's Day! Here's an easy to make treat to soak up all that beer.
What You'll Need:
---CAKE---
-1 box of butter cake mix and all it's needed ingredients (usually butter and eggs)
-1 apple (any apple will do but I recommend granny smith)
-3 tbsp butter
-1/4 cup brown sugar
-cinnamon
-1 greased glass cake pan
-1 skillet
Step 1:
Start by making the cake mix in a large pouring bowl and set aside when mixed well.
Step 2:
Chop the apple into minced bits as best you can. Add the chopped apple, brown sugar, and butter to a skillet on MED heat. Add as much or as little cinnamon as you like depending on preference. Cook while continuously stirring for 5 minutes (Cooked brown sugar turns to glue if it sits too long, don't let that happen)
Step 3:
After 5 minutes of cooking, remove from heat and let the bubbling stop for a minute or 2. When the bubbles stop, pour the apple mixture straight into the cake batter, mix well. Once mixed add entire mixture to the greased cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Step 4: When cake is done, remove from oven and let cool for about 5 minutes. Make sure to cut the cake into squares, this will help evenly coat the entire cake with the glaze. While you wait prepare the glaze.
---GLAZE---
-2 cups powdered sugar
-1/4 cup Irish cream coffee creamer
-1 shot of whisky (optional) if you don't want whiskey, use a splash of milk instead
-1 tsp of vanilla extract
Step 1:
Add all ingredients into a pouring bowl, whisk together with a fork until creamy and runny.
Final Step:
Distribute glaze evenly across the top of the cake. Spread with a knife. Allow time for the glaze to harden and enjoy. For best results, serve with "Toad in the Hole" and a green beer.
