Nah the hostage is wanted dead or alive for some reason. Also why bother with any kind of consistency with the characters?

I don’t know about an inconsistency here, the report implied that it would be smarter to take the prince alive rather then dead.

Then why even offer a reward if he's dead? Why not just say "target must be captured alive"? The way it is now says he's wanted dead or alive. That brings up the question of why a crown prince from a planet would be even worth anything dead. Also it begs the question as to why the bounty hunter would be so quick to injure him. One would think that injuring a prince would be a really quick way to piss off an entire kingdom. And also at one point we see the hunter make a big deal about wasting money by shooting and then just make a joke about killing everyone. Which is it? Is he really stingy and only focused on the job or is he the kind of person that delights in torturing and murder? Because I get the sense that he drops back and forth between the two positions. Also he says "I'm here for the mark". How would they know what the mark is? Wouldn't "I'm here for the prince" Make more sense?

I'm gonna call the bad bounty hunter Davy Jones from now on. Because that's all that comes to mind when I see him
