Da, tovarisch! Is put tongue on places not for seeing publically! *The words are spoken with thunderous lack of subtlety*
"Whats the worst thing about eating a bunny?"
"Those little paws tapping on the top of your head."
-- Old furry pic.

That joke has been around in one form or another since before I was in my teens, at least! And I'm in my late 60's now.....
Still funny though.
Still funny though.
Wow, that's a new turn around. :p
I'm curious to hear now. x3
Fox becoming vegeterian is alot more interesting than human vegans.
At least he doesnt brag around about it. Xp

I wish -someone- would! I hear about it all the time but I have no idea what it is.
(It's a trademarked training system. Check Wikipedia if you want a reasonable overview.)
Pfft, 'Wikipedia' this, 'Google it' that. Whatever happened to conversation?
They don't brag about it, they want to educate people on diet and ethics.
And they are asked a lot of questions all the time, it's boring.
Nick is still awesome though.

Most vegans I know, always start conversations about how is it awesome to be one, how it's healthy, how it's amazing, how it gives you relaxation, how it's wonderful, how it removes all the hate and yada-yada-yada. THAT's boring. And if I am not one, I'd be lectured about how is it bad for my health and life style. That's called "bragging". I respect those who chose to become a vegetarian and keep it to be their own choice and highly disapprove of those who brag.
I'm a vegetarian and it is extremely common for people to ask why, often because they are confused by mass misinformation about needing to eat meat to be healthy (some animals do, but not humans). Granted this usually only happens once or twice per person.
I went through a pushy phase but it was before I even gave up meat to begin with, strangely enough. It's not worth being pushy because we're biologically omnivorous and it is more effective to protest cruel treatment of livestock (something most would agree is a problem) than demonize all meat eating. I understand vegans even if I don't take it as far.

As I've mentioned before - in my experiance, I've met most and only those vegeterians that are "agressive" type and if you're eating meat, they'll attack you for that. I understand that there's plenty of people that simply enjoy their veggy meal for various reasons, but in the first place, my point was about those who I saw most common at the places I lived.
hmmm...surprising he's a vegetarian
considering fish and insects are on a foxes diet normally, and there are currently neither of those in Zootopias species

The zootopia opening says that only mammals are intelligent, which leaves reptiles, birds and fish on the meat menu. Even unintelligent mammals too, really.
As I recall, during the movie we only ever see anyone eat blueberries and candy.

There were the pawsicles, and a carrot was intended.
Besides, RL rabbits don't usually go for root vegetables and fruit. Their greens, sure.

But, I've never seen a rabbit turn down a carrot if it was offered one. But, you're right. Wild rabbits are grazers; they prefer grass over roots. I'm not certain; but, I don't believe they really have enough shoulder and foreleg strength to do a lot of digging for roots.
As a rancher / farmer, I have to very much disagree with that. They love fruit. More so they also love the bark on fruit trees. Really, if its something other than their normal diet of basic vegetation, its candy to them. Bunnies are the bane of the farming world as they will uproot and eat anything other than mint and lavender. They munch it all. Flowers, potatoes, carrots. Hell, if rocks were flavorful, they would eat them too.
There is a Bug Burga wrapper seen on the ground for a moment during Nick's rant vs. Judy early in the movie.
There was a fish market(In the frozen area) and the concept art shows that they eat fish.
"Of course I blame my parents, they were both ENORMOUS! Everyday when I came home it was eat this, eat that, eat HER!"
Line from movies is always fun.

A little movie made miniseries called "The 10th Kingdom". It's all about two expecting "normals" that stumble into a portal that opens up in the middle of New York's Central Park that leads them into Fairy Tale Kingdoms 200 years after the days of Snow White, Cinderella, ect. had their happily ever after and how miserable the lands are now because of mismanagement and whatnot. The entire story is about them finding unlikely allies in their journey to try and find the magic mirrors that trapped them there so that they can get home.
The line itself is from a human character who is actually a Big Bad Wolf named "Wolf" appropriately. He has a history with eating fair maidens.

I love The 10th Kingdom ^^ If only it had gotten better ratings so that sequels would have been possible
Yeah, I was really looking forward to finding out more about the Red Riding Hood/Wolf War.
"Once Upon a Time" is more based on Fairy Tales from a Disney perspective. "The 10th Kingdom" is more focused on the actual Fairy Tales and is less about the famous characters and more about how social and economic issues that comes with commoners living in those kinds of lands. One of the best lines used early on in the series that best describes the series in a whole is "Happily Ever After didn't last as long as we'd hoped". Personally, I prefer 10th Kingdom over OUT, but that's just me.
Okay. Well, as I said, it reminded me of OUT. I didn't mean to imply they were the same. I've never seen 10th Kingdom so I don't know anything about it. Maybe I'll add it to my Netflix queue and see if I like it as well.
Thank you for bringing this up! It's been over a year since I looked futilely for a Blu-ray release and I see it's finally happened!!
Ya know I have been wondering this myself? I mean what DO predators eat in Zootopia?
Mostly fish and insects.
As for Nick personally being a vegetarian, one of the directors confirmed it on Twitter.

I don't know if he's elaborated any more than that.

I don't suppose you could find a link to that? Not that I don't believe you, but I'm writing a fanfic and that might be a good source to site.
Fanon has them predominantly eating bug meat. Places like Bug Burga are a popular cross fanon. Think McDonalds, but they sell Double Roach Deluxe and Deep Fried Crickets and the like as examples of food stuffs catered to preds. Some fanon's also point to seafood. But most of the fanon stuff is insect based foods.
It's not fanon, there's a Bug Burga wrapper in the movie and loads in the concept art.
bug fast food wrappers and various fish markets are in the movie. They are proper canon. Birds we don't know about yet though.
You're not fooling anyone Nick; we all know how foxes get their protein...
I've had this thing for so long it never occurred to me how it would look paired. XD
The screenwriters have explained at some length that the predators in Zootopia consumed fish and insect protein. Much of this narrative never made it into the final film, but there are a few artifacts visible in the background that are remainders of these ideas. Signs advertising "cricket burgers" and the like.
I thought it was interesting in the train ride through Tundratown, there's a sign for a place called "Blubber Chef", which struck me, as blubber is usually known as something in marine mammals. Might be available from other sources though.
Maybe the CHEFS are the ones with the blubber, and they serve other food.

Original script had an aquatic section for Zootopia and has artwork of Judy in SCUBA equipment so perhaps there is a cetacean section we just haven't seen yet.
Ugh....poisonous species!! Totally contaminated with all sorts of yucky stuff!
Ewww. I remember the line. "Soylent Green is people." (Or something similar.)
Blubber comes from mammals.. so how does that work? Cetacean chefs?
I wondered that too. I grew up going to Burger Chef. Ours looked like this one until it got remodeled in the 1970's.

I remember seeing that restaurant style but I don't remember it being a Burger Chef restaurant. Of course, it was many, MANY years ago.
Was Burger Chef nationwide or was it regional? The reason I ask is that perhaps another chain used, with permission of course, the same restaurant style but under a different name.
Thank you! I kinda think so too Their burgers were good, but their fish sandwiches still hold a special spot in my heart. My Dad and I used to get them. Thanks for the links too!
From Wikipedia:
The diet of foxes is largely made up of invertebrates such as insects, and small vertebrates such as reptiles and birds, and can include eggs and plants. Many species are generalist predators, but some (such as the crab-eating fox) have more specialized diets.
It doesn't specify what "plants", but I could see Nick doing the occasional egg as well as berries, fruit, vegetables, and breads & cereals. I bet he likes milk, though (assuming there's a source).
I suspect that chicken figures heavily in the typical predator diet.

I bet most foxes go for a good bug-burger. But a seafood place would be a nice change.
In a story I'm writing, I have a bit of a running gag about a vixen being aggravated by a human she likes about her, being a fox, preferring eggs and chicken. I also have her stating that she likes fish. I didn't know that foxes ate fish until it was mentioned by another poster.

They could change course for mammals in general, but as of what I last heard poultry is not consumed. This tweet is kind of ambiguous as in some don't call insects or fish meat, but it would be interesting if it does mean he's a vegetarian.

There were no sapient birds, were there?
Maybe everything tastes like chicken because everything IS chicken.

There is a scene in the movie where you can see a discarded "bug-burger" box laying in a grassy area.
That combined with rumors and supposed word from the directors suggest that predators in Zootopia get their protein fix from congealed bugs. It probably looks a lot like tofu before its cooked.
I was going to mention that the producers of Zootopia set the predators as eating insects in lieu of meat, but I can see a couple of people have already done so.
I'm somewhat melancholy about this turn of events because I had wanted to do a similar story of the father of my foxaroo fursona, who opted against peer pressure to become a vegetarian long before falling in love with a kangaroo.

Ah-ha, Nick's father, the plot thickens.

Oooohh Nick's flashback about his diet habits, this should be interesting!
ditto. I find it interesting that this strip has started some rather interesting discussions about vulpine, zootopian, and human dietary habits.
Wait a min...NIcks' father, as in daddy Denuso in NCIS??? i.e.. Robert Wagner??? Oh Boy..this could be fun... now where did I get that idea from???? THE COLONEL
As I'm sure you know, the writers say he eats berries and fish.
When did they say he eats fish?
This is the last I heard about Nick in particular:

Foxes are categorized as omnivores so a vegetarian fox is not hard to imagine is a setting where the choice of food is abundant and varied. Cooking food makes it possible to be wholly vegetarian in reality. Humans have been greatly changed by cooking, otherwise we would have expanded guts and would look a lot like a gorilla. Gorillas are not fat, in fact most wild ones are constantly on the verge of starvation as the raw foods they eat just barely provides enough nutrition and their extended intestines work very hard to extract what it can.
If the ships I've seen are any indication, Judy is definitely a "meat eater"!
Must....resist...thought...of Julie pulling her pants off and asking Nick if he wants to have a taste of some rabbit meat....DAMMIT TOO LATE! *droooools*
In the story I mentioned earlier, I have all of my anthros, including the "herbivores", as being omnivorous. I thought that would be a bit of a shocker.
... I just feel like Disney should hire you for stories and/ or drawing lol
I once had that dark fantasy that when they are all alone, searching a predatorous mass monster, it turns out it was Nick and he was grinning at Judy "I am going to eat you know", like in a Mike Myers chasing scene :-3
This is fun to see. Also I did not see that coming at all with the flowers.
Have they said any more about Nick in particular than Byron Howard's tweet?
https://twitter.com/byronphoward/st.....94994820247554
(Yeah I know I linked that quite enough in the comments.)
Regardless of that, this is an interesting and cute conversation going on here.

Most Canines are omnivorous. And if I recall from a book related to the film, Nicks dad had a flower shop. Still, I bet he is expected to keep his distance from Little Rodedentia.😏
i assume in this world they dont eat meat cause if they live together it would be like people eating people
They maybe eat fish or bugs. Could be that they get not "evolutioned" and are no morphs. So all morphs only see them as food ;)
Or they just eat humans:

This is an awfully roundabout way of telling him that she's really into that biting thing he did at the museum.
I'm so happy that you're doing another one of these! X3

Good thinking, Nick, going on a vegetarian diet. I imagine a society like Zootopia would not want predators devouring their neighbors.
