This is what Salvia leucophylla "Amethyst Bluffs" is all about. This plant grows beyond 5" tall and 8" wide if you let it, and I really encourage that. It"s dry growing, water tolerant, shade tolerant, and looks oh so soft. It"s the first purple sage to bloom, as early as February. I"ve heard it also tolerates freezing temperatures, but I haven"t been able to test that; it barely goes below freezing here. Did I mention it"s tasty? It makes a fabulous pesto. I burn it for incense frequently.
