“Long ago, there were once a wicked old fox that hungers for power. When the news of the slaying of Yamato no Orochi had reached the fox’s ears, it went to where the evil dragon was slain with ill intentions. When it finally arrived at dusk, it found the headless corpse has partially been submerged in a lake of its own blood. Though the monster is dead, its corpse still radiates a sense of dread to any living mortal that approaches to it, including the fox as well. But despite this, the fox still swam through the crimson lake without delay till it reached the corpse. Then it began to feast its tainted flesh, in hopes to inherit Orochi's powers. However, each bite it took, the more it feels itself beginning to change. Its inner darkness in its soul begins to swell, its fur gradually falls from its skin and the muscles spasm painfully as it expands. Sensing the looming, unknown danger it is facing, the fox tried to stop but its body is now driven by a dark craving it never felt before and continues to consume. The old fox somehow becomes entrapped on the giant corpse, continuously feasting it till the unfortunate fox disappeared one day. A decade later, a powerful, eight-tailed demon rises from the crimson lake now known as "Dragonblood Spring." Thus the Hachibi is born."

Shirohebi, the current master of Dragonblood Spring, is the descendant of the first Hachibi. She is known in the eastern lands for her great wisdom, highly influential charm and coldhearted and deceptive nature. A strong believer of knowledge is power, she constantly seeks new information by using a network run by her lesser demon servants, which resembles white snakes wearing fox-masks, and they gather whatever information proved useful to their mistress. With this vast knowledge she gathered, she became the head of an organization which trades in information, always selling to the highest bidder and usually trades for treasures, favors and other information she has yet to attain. She also partition in dark magic and thanks to her gathering of knowledge, she became a very powerful sorceress who specializing in curses and other hexes. With her knowledge and mastery in sorcery, she became one of the most fearsome entities in the east.

A/N: Monsters from Japanese legends has always been a fascination of mine and I'm glad to finally get to work on one! The design behind Shirohebi is a combination between the legendary Japanese monsters Yamato no Orochi and Tamamo-no-Mae. That and a serpentine vulpine sounds like a very intriguing enough idea for me to draw. Enjoy~
