HER TOOTSIES
Now these, I'm a little proud of. People have moved away from it a good bit, but used to, conventional fursuit-builder wisdom was that you built feet over a comfortable pair of shoes, like some old sneakers. But that's so far from ideal; it both takes for granted the concept of "readily available comfortable shoes" (people can have foot problems requiring expensive shoes and might not have "old sneakers" lying around, and would make purchasing a new pair prohibitively expensive -- not to mention, with shoes, you legitimately get what you pay for, and cheap shoes will degrade quickly, ruining the base of your feet paws!!), and creates a cumbersome item that's impossible to clean thoroughly (which, for something that BY DEFINITION is gonna be all up over the ground, I feel is PRETTY IMPORTANT)
These are my solution to those problems! Now I know I'm not the first mofo to makes spats. But I'm still proud! These are fur covers, patterend around my shoe with a foam structure for the hooves, made with faux fur and fleece. The soles are a thick, rough fabric (I think it was actually interfacing, word to the wise). I masked a small border around their perimeter and sprayed the rest with many, many layers of Plasti-Dip with medium grit gravel sprinkled on between coats for traction, and then sewed them to the covers! The toes are simply stuffed, and there's rear zipper closure.
This means I can wear ANY shoe I want in these (and just adjust the stuffing if it's too loose or tight), with little mobility compromise, and de-stuff them whenever I want and throw the whole thing in the wash. They're not perfect, obviously! Plasti-Dip is nnnot made for long-term abrasive traction wear, but that's a thing that I can EASILY touch up :D
