I caved and bought an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. This is my first completed piece done exclusively using those tools (except for one final color adjustment at the last second). Hope to make more!

The only answer is to erase this world and replace it with one she deserves.
Yup. Great for sketching, the painting brushes could blend better though.
How the tilting works? Apple pencil supposedly support that.
Anyways as I mentioned in twitter, I use a Intuos Creative stylus, it feels very different

It feels better than my Surface pro, since there's more real estate to draw in, and it is accurate in all parts of the screen (whereas it's a little iffy on the edges of the Surface Pro). And the colors are better than the Cintiq. But I think the Cintiq still works better for some applications though.
I did however have a screen protector installed that gives the surface a little more grit, which helps.

I dont know, if you get the smaller one the cintiq might be cheaper :P
Actually the iPad pro starts at $800 while a Cintiq Companion 2 is more like $1700. You might be thinking of the 13HD which needs to be connected to a computer to function, and can be found for around the same $800 as the iPad.
It's much cheaper than a Companion, and gets better battery life (granted, a Companion does run Windows). And although it is less expensive than some Cintiq models, as mentioned, they require a computer to connect to in order to run.
so precious <3
I could just scoop her up and put her in a little handbag <3

She's so flippin' adorable, I just wanna snuggle her~ <3
It's pretty neat. It has great accuracy and little lag for the most part. I probably will add a little sleeve to give it a slightly nicer grip though.
Thanks. I feel like I could have done it quicker with better blending with the brushes though. Hopefully Procreate works on that.
I used Procreate. Great for the most part, but the brushes don't blend as well as I would like for painty styles.
I have both actually, the original Surface Pro that still had the Wacom digitizer, and the iPad pro. The iPad pro is bigger and the pencil works more accurately at all parts of the screen, and the iPad Pro is lighter. The only thing the Pro wins at right now is a wider variety of software, since I can use Photoshop and Manga Studio.
You and kaylii gotta stop posting these test pics on the iPad Pro. You guys are edging me more and more into getting one. ;-P
I was going to downsize to a mini but after playing with the pencil myself on the iPad Pro.... I've kind been wanting the Pro.
Btw, what app did you use for the painting?

This was done in Procreate. It's great but painting with the brushes (in a painterly style) leaves a little to be desired.
I don't even think I could do that any any device. Still, seeing people do stuff like this, even just quick shots, is making me want one even more. And I was thinking of downsizing to a iPad mini.
Of course, I gotta wait to see what they do with an iPad Air 3. Maybe it'll work with the Apple Pencil. Though, for art, I'd probably get the Pro for the size.

I see a bunch of folk starting to offer work using this combo and trying out new styles with it. Do you notice a big difference in workflow compared to a more conventional tablet, or does it offer more freedom?
It's more fun to carry around for sketching on a whim. Depending on the apps, some offer a lot of the same functionality using touch interface instead of keyboards, which you can get used to quickly, but you won't get full functionality that you get in a desktop environment obviously (for example, procreate doesn't allow me to select the size I want to save an image in). And sometimes gestures do unintentionally go off (like picking color or creating a line if I hold the pencil in place too long) which can be annoying.
Ahh, I understand. Thanks very much, this was very informative, I'll keep this system in mind!
Look at that cutie! I adore how you manage to balance the cute with sex appeal. Very nice.
