A trade from
darkorange , my Second Life character Vokey gets a flying job!
Appearance: Moderately tall Ocelot. The blue fur is natural but rare occurring on average in 1%-2% of ocelots for unknown reason, and is usually outgrown to more natural colors by adolescence however a few retain the blue fur for their entire lives. The purple eyes likewise are rare, combined with the blue fur gives reason to believe the unusual colors are a mutation related to albinoism.
Background: Born into a household with 2 older siblings, she grew up in a not-too small town with nothing out of the ordinary until she took a military service examination. Her scores drew further exams, when it was determined she had potential for flight training. Four years later she was a pilot assigned to an attack wing in the Rupian Air Force at age 22.
Service: Vokey flew F15E Strike Eagles for the first 5 years of her service. During that time she had 1 deployment in a combat zone. She flew 26 attack sorties with 6 successful deliveries of ordinance, and 10 uneventful combat air patrols. During that deployment her application to test pilot school was processed and she was withdrawn from the conflict to enter training as a test pilot candidate. Vokey completed the curriculum and finished her second term of service at the test flight center with the rank of Major.
Test Pilot: After leaving the military she was hired as a test pilot for a military contractor. Her job is mostly taking newly completed or recently repaired tactical aircraft on check-flights before their return to the Air Force and Navy, sometimes taking them directly to the units as needed. In this role she has flown almost 10% of the current fighters in the entire military. Such is the not-so exciting life as a test pilot! She tests a few prototype aircraft and systems on a limited basis, and a few projects that are clouded in secrecy…
FFR-41MR: This project doesn't exist so stop reading now. OK? Right.
The aircraft shown is one of three prototypes brought to the Rupian defense forces for final flight testing by a race of aliens known as "humans" through a gateway near one of the planet's poles. The reason for this arrangement was the possibility of it's testing being discovered by the human's adversaries if tested on their home planet. Vokey and three other pilots were chosen due to their human-like physical characteristics and their ability to adapt to unusual flight systems. For 14 months the FFR was flown in various configurations before the tests were halted. At that time Vokey had amassed 250 hours operating the plane. One of the FFRs was taken back by the humans through the gateway along with the flight data, then the gateway dissipated. The last 2 aircraft were then stored, as the humans left no indication they would return. The humans were forthcoming in their descriptions of the technology during their stay, however it is estimated the time needed to reproduce such a plane is 70-100 years (since major components were constructed in weightless and airless environments in orbit). While it was fascinating to see what a century-forward leap in air combat looks like, with only 2 aircraft and few spares available continued flying was impossible. The FFR-41MR and it's human creators remain classified as secret.
