THALASSIC
pronunciation: tha-lass-ick
Thalassic mechri are the most primal and ruthless of the species. They are water dwelling creatures, primarily found in Straxerian oceans and larger bodies of water. They vary in size, ranging from the very smallest to the absolute massive. Thalassic mechri have seal-like fur, and are never found with a long mane or an excessive amount of fur. It does not benefit them in an evolutionary aspect. They are the oldest type of Mechri, and have been around much longer than their land-dwelling kin. Thalassics are capable of breathing above water for short periods of time, but avoid going too far from the shoreline. They have gills on the sides of their necks, and the sensory pits that are found on the muzzle of land-dwelling mechri are also replaced with smaller gills. These mechri have horns, but they are often more streamline in shape and texture to avoid resistance while swimming in the water. Similarly, they have the same three-toed feet, however they are webbed. Any sort of mane is often replaced with fins or webbing, but a short mane is not entirely unseen. They are primarily carnivorous, however if a meaty meal is difficult to find, then they will opt to munch on vegitation or shellfish. These mechri are very rarely seen in groups - two or three mechri are usually found travelling together at the most, but Thalassics are very territorial and solitary creatures.
BOREAL
pronunciation: bor-ee-al
Boreal mechri are hardy, but rather gentle creatures. Slower-moving and seen as rather lazy, they are the second largest of the types, but are the largest of the land-dwelling types. They prefer colder climates and avoid arid landscapes at any cost, due to the length and thickness of their fur. The scaly skin of a mechri is hardly seen on a Boreal. It is most commonly seen on the nose and mouth, and the insides of the ears. These mechri have heavy amounts of fur to protect them from the cold, and it is thick like that of a Norwegian Elkhound"s fur. Their legs are furred similarly to that of a Clydesdale"s legs, and their feet and claws are often found to be larger to better their climbing abilities in the mountain ranges they so often dwell in. While they can be found with horns and various spikes like other mechri, they usually have tusks as well. 8 out of every 10 Boreal mechri is found to have tusks, which are the same color as their skin and horns. Sometimes Boreals can be found without horns on their heads as well. They have an omniviorous diet, and are better scavengers than hunters. Often times they are found listlessly munching on vegitation and do have a tendency to hibernate for days or weeks at a time if they have a large meal. They do travel in groups that reach up to four or five members. Taking their size and amounts of fur into consideration, they generally avoid swimming and climbing. They are not the most agile of their species.
NEMORIVAN
pronuciation: Nem-or-ih-van
Nemorivan mechri are the most common type. They are commonly seen in densely wooded areas. They are versatile in the aspects of location and diet. While they often are carnivorous, they do not resort to vegitation and fruit in a last-ditch effort of a meal. Nemorivans are often found enjoying greens and fuit on a whim. They are fantastic climbers and wonderful hunters. They enjoy swimming on ocassion as well. They share a variety of traits with other mechri and have the widest variety of traits for their species. Their manes are found to be any length - usually the longest being lion-like manes, which are primarily found in males. The shapes and textures of their horns are endless. Their skin is often exposed on their faces, necks, belly, and tails. They can be found with furring on their legs like Boreals, though typically it is not as thick. They are not as large as Boreal mechri, but are considered the absolute average for the species as a whole. They travel in groups of roughly six to eight members at the most. However, these mechri can more often be found traveling in groups of two or three, and are sometimes even found travelling alone.
OPHIDIAN
pronunciation: ohf-id-ee-on
Small and fast, Ophidian mechri are rather elusive. They are found in the arid, desert climates of their world. They would not survive in a cold climate. These mechri have many reptilian traits, and their scales are usually more prevalent. They have very short fur, and usually their spikes are laid out like that of a crocodile"s skin on the neck, shoulders, back and tail. Sometimes the same scaly spikes are found on the face as well. Their ears are much larger than the other types, and their eyes are rather large as well. Their bodies are longer than the other types, and their legs are rather shorter as well in comparison. Ophidian mechri tails are rather long, as well. They are carnivorous by choice, and rarely ever eat vegetation of any kind. They are the fastest of their kind, opting to be runners or leapers rather than climbers, and enjoy burrowing above all else.
Mechri are a closed species. Please do not make one without prior permission from me, Skellri
There will be plenty of opportunities to adopt one of these guys shortly! (USD/point adopts, DTAs, MYOs)
I have a couple of more guides to finish up, and then adoptables/customs will become available!
I realize that some people do not agree with the idea of a closed species, and I respect that! I ask for your respect in return c:
