You might say, "be careful what you wish for" or something!
i.e. You want to improve your life? Then you deserve something terrible to happen to you!
...Which is actually how a lot of fables and old tales for children go. :/

for some unfaathomable reason your link now leads to a "how to start a photo booth" page.
may i ask you what did your link initially show, if you remember?

Looks like someone needs to learn how to be a female. And a proper diplomat. This looks bleak for him. Or its the start of his new life as a pretty diplomat Yinglet. I like this!
Well being a veteran of the Ten Seasons War, Kass does have lots of experience swinging a ball and chain around at Beletan legionnaires. That's pretty much a diplomat's job description, right?
Well well...It would seem that Kass has a new job...whether he wants it or not. Poor guy (girl?) Hopefully things will work out okay for him.
If there's ever been one thing I've learned from comics...it's always be suspicious of humans with golden irises.
Also Kass, just go with the flow man...err woman...yinglet...yeah...
Also Kass, just go with the flow man...err woman...yinglet...yeah...
Moreover, going against the flow is kinda counterproductive if you're being pulled along a tsunami.
Hmmm. Are yellow irises more common in humans in your world, or.....spoilers?
They are indeed incredibly rare, and have been a signifying mark of the Salia bloodline dating back to the city's first remaining records. A couple members of the Salian family have claimed they possess special "powers" of some sort (but have not been able to back up these claims), and in one famous incident, a Salian Trademaster was ambushed (at great cost), and one of his eyes was cut out to be taken as a prize. The (very short-lived) sect had a generous amount of mystics and alchemists, but were apparently unable to find anything special about the eye aside from its iris color. And it most certainly did not, as they had hoped, grant them power over the Trademaster that it was removed from.
(I get the feeling about 50% of all the info about the comic's setting is here scattered as replies to questions in the comment sections)

Kass can no longer decide his fate. too may figure heads with too much power doing what they want to poor kass
Yeah, we've all be in one of those situations once or twice. Changed gender and species and given difficult duties by our liege lord.
After catching up on the whole comic and then viewing your gallery, I notice a distinct lack of something:
Kass, as a female Yinglet of course, in an outfit that Yinglets would consider sexy, looking uncomfortable. :D
-
Actually I'm wondering if the Matriarch is wearing that outfit just for the Trademaster and her public appearance among humans, or if other Yinglets find that appealing. I'm guessing we'll find out. ;)

Haha, a lot of the males would go crazy at the sight of a female in a simple chest wrap and loincloth!
Then again, this was while Kass was among friends, and still too shocked from the sudden change in biology to feel exposed by semi-revealing underwear. Hell, with the layer of fur, he has felt like he's been wearing something the whole time~
I'll remember this idea, though...

Yinglet Kass swimsuit calendar. Totally.
I imagine Kass displaying a different emotion in each one, though most of them are negative for some reason. :D

Good, IMO because a good TG isn't really complete until the victim is looking uncomfortable in a dress. :)

yay, just what I was hoping to see today, more out of placers!
I love Kass's reaction to all of this.
I love Kass's reaction to all of this.
Oh, so you turned into yinglet. How utterly strange. How... convenient!
When you've been raised to perceive everything as a potential opportunity to be exploited, everything looks like a potential opportunity to be exploited.
Yes! But... what's a mew dud? I'm picturing cat-themed Milk Duds.
Sometimes the only choice we have in the matter is how we react to it!
As some have said in the past…
Control your own destiny or someone else will.- Jack Welch
I've had to learn that one the hard way myself.

...Which is why sometime around the French Revolution, we decided that having a small class of elites controlling everyone's lives for them was kind of a bad idea.
Hmm. Given the scarcity of Yinglet females, I wonder if Kass will be required to take a mate or two.
Oh yes, that's certainly not what Vizlet's thinking right now.
First I'll bet with this new duty Kassie will be expected to do things she is going to hate.
Second, Any chance of getting all of the dialog we are missing.

And in case i wasn't clear in the last panel i meant,
Any chance of getting all of the dialog spoken by Viracroix and Matriarch Vizlet we are missing in the last two pages we are missing.

Oh yes, Kass will soon be getting very immersed in yinglet society.
And naw, the dialogue is just empty polite post-negotiation banter.
And a terrible secret

Haha no of course I didn't forget to draw Vizlet's glasses in two panels.
Now hit refresh.
No reason, it's just a good habit.

...Not if the face at the end of comic #652 is as good as it is in my head!
Not sure if you've been applying a new style, or I just noticed how powerful that fireplace contrasts how bright and dark the shadows are.
Also, hooray for extremely specific job opportunities being filled instantly without regard to his thoughts!

Yeah, I had a few things I wanted to try out, and they all turned out well.
As for the second point: refer to the response to Cow101!

Hey cell shading! And thick outside lines, all kinds of style changes. It looks good, like the guy above me said it looks a lot brighter. Can I suggest still throwing in that old dark gradient on the background? The large swaths of grey look a little flat.
"Wait what" "What just happened?" XD
"Wait what" "What just happened?" XD
Yeah, I kinda noticed that too; I had a light gradient there, but pushed up the opacity while making an edit; it definitely looks nicer. Hit F5 and take a look.
Anyway, I felt it was about time to tighten up a few things, which is partially why I posted that shading comparison piece before this. Glad I did! I really do think cel-shading fits the rest of the comic's style better.

Yeah it's subtle but the gradient knocks it up a few notches. The new style looks good, pretty sharp. On your comparison piece, how did the votes weigh in for old vs new?
For the cut-off dialog in the end, did you write it all and then cut or is it bits and pieces?
If you wrote a whole dialogue, I'd love to read the un-cut parts. :D
Wow there's a lot of comments here now. :)

Man, apparently people want to see that dialogue!
I made up a conversation in my head, then strategically cut out the words that would allow anyone to actually follow it.
Don't worry, it's just empty polite banter~

And thus ends the prologue. Awesome. :)
And my prediction came true! Kindasorta. He was drafted and is going to have to report to the people in charge of House Ivenmoth, at least. I was wrong about what she was drafted to DO, though presumably he'll want to know if she learns anything about her transformation.
Does this mean, though, that she's no longer a probationary member of the House? The head honcho didn't say so specifically, but a being diplomat and go-between is hardly something you'd want to leave up to someone who's not really a part of your organization.

Aye, Kass got that promotion he wanted so much, though it had more to do with random circumstance rather than all the hard work he'd put in over the years! Which is how most promotions go, I think.
The Invenmoth tailors will have to design the first mini-sized redcloak.
And we're just about at the prologue's end, but there's a page or two left! Gotta tie up a few things.

That's fine, I figured as much, I was just wondering if Kass was missing some vital piece of information. :D
Nope! Here's a brief summary:
-Oh why this is all quite nice indeed, isn't it? Lovely weather for making decisions on behalf of all the peasants, yes, quite.
-Indeed! Why just yesterday a thing happened and it was all so very tiresome; you know how such things go, ho ho.

Well that's one way to get a promotion! Lol, I had to reread it, just to figure what just happened too
I've re-read the entire series a few times now. This is really good. :D
Well I'm glad it's worth re-reading! I try to include little details that are more obvious in a second read-through.
sorry XD i like the trademasters design specifically because he makes me think of the kinda laid back not so smart guy who says dude alot in like every show ever XD
In another life, he might have been! But in this one, he was born to a powerful bloodline that demanded much of its heirs. No time for childhood, we've an empire to run!
well that must have been a rather evil childhood.
GAURDS!!! my mother told me no. >.> you know what to do. XD
GAURDS!!! my mother told me no. >.> you know what to do. XD
He better interrupt to make sure he gets at least some support about finding a way to change him back to normal or at least being a human male again.
But what was behind door number 2?! I have to know. But door number 1's prize of being a diplomat is pretty baller.
Door #2: Fed to the giant space worm to keep it sated so it doesn't eat the world.
BAD END
BAD END
It shows how far we've come here on Earth that what we now call "railroading," was once considered "The right and proper way of things."
Defenestration was once a viable negotiating tactic too. Those were the days *wistful sigh*
There's many places - even many in the supposedly-free United States - where railroading is still considered the right and proper way of things.
Retail management, for example. Your employees think they have a choice in the matter? Ha! Write them up, and oh, was that the third write-up in the month? Too bad, you're fired and we're all sooo sad to see you go.

So, a couple of friends and I had some fun with the last frame: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u.....kass-error.png
Gah ha haaa, that's great and is a fairly accurate representation of Kass' current mental landscape.
Well, I guess you could always skip town in the middle of the night.
He/she could, but a lone yinglet out in the surrounding wastes is as vulnerable as...
Actually, that's the kind of thing you compare other things to.
Actually, that's the kind of thing you compare other things to.
sounds like the guy you were working for just sold you into some sick impregnation ring considering the male/female count of yinglets =w=; oh THIS will play out nicely~
So basically, a standard employment contract with any major corporation. D:
pretty much :V people with that kind of power tend to let it get to their heads
I can relate to the last two panels!
Exposition central! XD
Exposition central! XD
Wait so the Male yinglets on page 20 weren't planning anything? They were running away to report this to Vizlet?
ONE OF THE BEST COMICS EVER!
I love it when the author does that!

I was tempted to say that was unbelievably responsible of them. However, this is a female yinglet we're talking about.
Also HOORAY! I'm right! Do I get a prize?
Also HOORAY! I'm right! Do I get a prize?
I see that you've made changes to your comic, but I don see the reason to state my opinion on them 'cause at this point it won't matter. However, I will say I like the white outlines for the panels; it looks more akin to traditional comics. The shading I'm not a big fan about; it feels like a big change from what you were doing before. That's all I'll say.
So, Viracroix reveals how he knew Kass was the yinglet. Gee, do I feel dumb. I didn't figure the three yinglets recognized House Ivenmoth's color and logo. When I really think about, how could they not? House Ivenmoth is like the founding father of the town. Their banner hangs off the side of one of the teeth for crying out loud. In my defense, I don't know how integrated the yinglet and human societies are or how educated the yinglets are about the latter. In fact, I don't know much about yinglet society at all, but I'm sure I will…

As a child in a doctor's office, or a school room, with parents and doctor/teacher, I often felt like Kass in the last two panels.
Congratulations, you've been promoted!
