Character Training Compilation Vol.3
It's been a while since I've submitted anything... so here's another compilation of my character training sketches!
In the past two such compilations (Vol. 1 here and Vol. 2 here, if you haven't seen them), I explained how I go about teaching myself to draw characters I've never done before, and how I familiarise myself with new artistic styles. In short, it involves downloading heaps of reference pictures from the internet for each character, selecting a few of them which show variations of pose/expression/angle, and then sitting down to draw my own freehand (not traced) copies.
The sketches in this collection were spread over the last 18 months, the oldest having been drawn sometime in February 2013, but many of which were done recently in an aim to pull myself out of my recent art block (and with some success, I should add). Unlike previous volumes, the majority of characters that appear here have not yet featured in my submissions, with the exception of Scooby-Doo of course. But before you ask whether I will be drawing any more of these characters, let me make something clear...
I don't teach myself to draw characters unless I have a reason for doing so.
Essentially, if a character appears in any of my training compilations, it means I have got some ideas in mind for proper pictures of them to feature in my gallery. As ever - and to be a tease - I won't divulge what those intentions are, so you'll just have to watch this space.
Oh, and if anyone's wondering if I deliberately place certain sketches together for comic effect: Of course I do! Why else would Bender and Lrrr be having a stare-off, or Bugs Bunny be getting chased by Daffy Duck and having a rant at a shocked-looking Scooby? So many implications...
Hopefully some genuine art coming from me in the relatively near future, folks. So don't go away!

i love the bugs and scooby sketch with daffy to the left.
scooby looks like he said the worst thing to a rabbit he possibly could, bugs is yelling at him, and daffy is all breaking the fourth wall like 'look at this shit, this is what I put up with on a daily basis'

Ha! That's pretty much exactly what I thought of Daffy in that position!
Heh! Thanks TC! Hopefully my subsequent work with them will not disappoint either!
Heh - well I don't need to train myself for drawing my own characters in quite the same way!
So, should we be expecting macro Lrrr and/or Bender? Because I am totally into that. X3
I can't promise macro Bender, though I won't deny the thought has occurred to me in the past and I'm not averse to it. But he is there for a reason.
And there's several reasons why Lrrr is there. You can be sure of that.

Glad to know the thought isn't something you'd say no to, even if it's not what you have planned! Well, regardless of what you have in store, I'm definitely looking forward to them both, as well as the rest of them.
Classic Looney Tunes given the RRRex treatment? You definitely have my attention (as if you didn't already )!
Wow, those are all look amazing and very accurate. Can't wait to see what you do with Lrrr. :)
Heh - thanks. Hope it doesn't disappoint when I finally get round to it.
Nope. Like I mentioned in my recent journal, I've been having an art block recently so it's not like I'm on the brink of finishing anything. 'Relatively near future' is more likely to mean a month, or at best a few weeks.
Bugs is great. His personality is perfect for a stomper. And I don't think there's any paw art of him out there worth anything.
That's somewhat true. I can't remember seeing any out there, or if I have I've forgotten about it. Hence... another gap in the market I need to fill.
You do a fantastic job of matching the original art style for these characters to a tee! I'm interested to see what ideas you have for Bugs and Daffy. :P
Thanks! Hope the ideas don't disappoint.
Bugs Bunny, oh yes! Big, toony rabbit feet, these are lucky charms for sure! I can feel something on the "Bunny on Bugs" lines approaching! *shrugs*
Heh! Well actually I hadn't thought of it like that. But there are certainly intentions for those feet.
It's a weird one, that. I only noticed after drawing it that I hadn't given him gloves, and I assumed I must've forgotten somehow. But then I checked the reference image I used, and realised that he wasn't wearing gloves in that either:

Great clean lines, too! Definitely could pass for official, and I can't wait to see what you do with these characters. <3
ah duck feet... i remember as young teen i always got a boner when seeing them, back then i didnt have a clue of the fetish
I've spoken many times about my enjoyment of "cartoony duck feet". There's not enough love for them out there.
I'm... not really sure I understand the question?!
As I've mentioned to someone else above, Bender is there for a reason, but at this point in time he isn't really intended to be the focus of anything.
Not that my weird brain hasn't gone there though.

But... there's an equal amount of both!!
