*F5 for a crisper image*
Cover created for the book, The Northern Approach, by Jim Galford ( www.jgalford.com )
The layout on this image might seem strange, but that's because it's done for a novel cover, where the back will primarily be covered in text :)
Drawing an orc was a nice change of pace! And yes, that's a little fox tail up there in the front, for their feral fox companion ;) Sneaky foxes, sneaking onto book covers. . . .

This picture almost looks like an animal version of the Lord of the Rings.
I just got done watching Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Is the wolf with the sword going to be a king soon?
"Who's that then?"
"I dunno, must be a king."
"Why?"
"He hasn't got shit all over him."

No, I'm trying to apply a reference from a completely different movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hi8vXOUi-eI
I was paying more attention to the poor guy he beat upside the head
well rainbow in the dark, that you did the cover before, was already damn interesting
so i will PROBABLY, give a chance to that one
plus... i am running out of paper books to read in bed or when roaming around lol

Those mountains are beautifullllll! You did an incredible job on this picture!!!
It turned out beautifully. So much hard work and time put into this, I was happy to have caught a glimpse of your streaming the work. I love all the textures throughout.
I must be the only person here that has actually read the series this cover is for. I've been looking forward to the next book-- glad to see the series is still in production.
... Is that an Orc featured in a story that's not evil? *huge hopeful eyes* It's so sad that Orcs are ALWAYS portreyed as ugly and evil.... I do hope I am reading into it right and he's a main character!
Ah, that's awesome!! You should draw more orcs, you do it well!
You did a great job capturing the wind in the grass and the shadows cast by the clouds. Very nice!
Out of all the first 4 books, this art seems to be the most realistic and catching... The other artwork for the previous books feels, different. :s
thaaat would be because it was all photo-manip, not painted by hand :P
This looks amazing, I love all the detail you put into your work
Great art. Really love seeing an orc there, could be used as a portrait for some dungeons and dragons :)
There's always a lack of orc stuff for that.

I remember seeing this all those years ago when you first posted this, but unsure why I didnt favorite it back then. I've recently started rereading the books and on the second one now. I wish Jim didn't seem to just disappear a couple years ago.
