To begin anew~
The “New Haven”, a café on the middle, the second ring of Theologia is a well known and frequented place. People line up in the morning already to get their coffee and breakfast. This is thanks to the high quality coffee and food they serve at the place. It should also be noted, that the food is all made from ingredients which the owner, Faihmrio Gallardo and his workers grow themselves in Theologia.
They have their own bakery, where all the delicious bread, buns and various pastries get prepared. Besides these, they also make their own candy, jelly, honey and various other products for a nice breakfast. Of course the coffee also has to be mentioned, as people from all rings come to get their daily dosis of this great brew. It often happens, that they have to tell people that they have no open seats left, because just too many people want to be there. Luckily, they also prepare food the customer can take with them. The owner does not plan on expanding though. He enjoys the place the way it is.
One can understand the people though. If you tasted the things they serve there, you would want to come back for more. It is just that tasty. It is not something like in high class restaurants, which is supposed to please the eye, but the taste can compare with every restaurant in Theologia. Added to the great taste is also the atmosphere of the café and candyshop.
The outside area is a large garden, with a roofed terrace, where the roof is made from glass, which is connected directly to the café and has removable walls for summer. The garden has a nice assortment of plants accompanied by benches for people to sit on. The terrace is made from polished black and white marble tiles which are arranged like a chessboard. The gaps between the tiles are filled with golden metal, giving the whole thing a classy look, which looks especially nice when the sun shines onto it making it sparkle brightly. At the moment the walls are still in place though, as it is still cold outside, but that would change sooner or later, as temperatures slowly rise.
Throughout the day people frequent the café, reading their newspaper, drinking tea or coffee and enjoying some nice food offered by the café. Once can see Faihmrio, a blue and white nevrean and owner of the place, taking the orders of his customers.
There are not many nevreans living in Theologia, especially none like Faihmrio. Theologia can be harsh and it is difficult to get into a good standing there, but Faihmrio has the right skills and knowledge which brought him to the point where he is now. He started out with nothing and worked his way up. Now he has his own and well running café!
He walks carefully between the small black iron tables with the filligree pattern and the white tea clothes. The smell of tea, coffee and fresh food fills the air, making people who walk past the place crave for the delicious things served here.
With a smile, Faihmrio walks back into the café. The inside of the café is a nice and comfortable place with a large fireplace in the middle, which fills the whole place with an enjoyable warmth during cold times. The furnitures in here, aswell as the floor, ceiling and wall panneling are kept in dark and polished wood. The walls have a green wall covering made from shiney silk with filigree golden patterns woven into them.. During the day, the stained glass windows on the walls and ceiling let the sunlight illuminate the place and during the night, black iron chandeliers bath the room in their dimmed electric light.
Comfy armchairs and couches are placed around the fireplace for the people to sit at after they enter the café, leaving the cold behind them. People are not allowed to keep these spots for themselves too long, Faihmrio and his employees always keep a eye out for that.
They also offer gaming cards and dices, aswell as darts and pool tables, so the customers can enjoy themselves a bit and have a good time. Faihmrio also got a nice old jukebox and got it repaired. People now can listen to old and new music in the background. One might say it is more of a bar or pub than a café, but to Faihmrio it is and will always be a café, no matter what.
Faihmrio's office can be reached from the café. It is a large room from where he can reach the upper floors of the building. Nobody but him is allowed to go there, as these are his private rooms where he lives. Only close friends, people whom he trusts have seen these rooms. For now though, the nevrean walks to his desk and sits down in his leather chair and sighs loudly. This day sure is another busy one he thinks, as he pours himself a drink, taking a sip from the glass. Leaning back into the chair, memories of the past start to occupy his head. Memories of when he arrived in Theologia and before that, the war that spread through his birthplace like a fire. How his parents had to join the force. These were terrible times. And then, one day a member of the army paid him a visit, telling him that his parents have fallen victim to an enemy attack. Faihmrio was not sure what to feel in this moment. He thanked the officer for delivering the message, for ending his worries. The last straw which held him at his home was gone. At that time he decided to leave his homeland, to go somewhere else. His parents always talked about a place called Theologia, a town high up over the clouds. They wanted to move there one day and open a café, that was their dream, which Faihmrio decided to fulfill now that they are gone.
Shortly after that, he grabbed everything that was of importance to him and made his way to the harbor. He did not have the money to afford a plane ticket, so he had to go to Theologia by boat. Luckily people were allowed to leave the country. The trip was not completely safe, but they were able to avoid threats and arrive at base of the mountain on which Theologia is seated after a week. He even helped out in the kitchen during the time. He was a big help with his cooking skills he had refined at home. Thanks to this, his thoughts did not wander off too much and the time flew past, as he had soemthing to do.
As he stepped onto the pier he closed his eyes for a moment, breathing in deeply, tasting the air of a new beginning. Of course he did not know where to go from here, so he had to ask for directions. Asking one of the people working at the pier, he learned that he had to walk up the mountain. It was the only way besides a plane to get up all the way to Theologia. He couldn't even see the top from the pier because the mountain was that high. He heard that it was quite a trip up there, but luckily there were stop to rest at, inns, restaurants and hot springs. Thanking the workers, Faihmrio sighed loudly, before tightening his grip on his backpack, starting his trip up the mountain. He came so far already, he would not stop here. And like this his journey to reach Theologia started. Before reaching the island he thought it would be easier than this to reach Theologia, but it couldn't be helped. One had to work hard for their dreams. It would be a trip longer than a week. Resting at the inns and hot springs, his exhausted body was able to rest for a while. Unknown to him, the people who worked at these inns and springs and other places also took a close look at the people to make sure that nothing bad entered Theologia. They even tested the people. Of course not in an obvious way. They asked for help at the inn, or for the person to deliver something to the next stop. It would show more of a persons personality.
They service of these inns, hot springs and other places is free. Faihmrio felt bad because of that. He is someone who was raised to work for the things he wants and to repay kindness shown by others. So it was him who approached the people, asking if he can help around the place a bit until he will go on climbing the road to the top. This show of goodwill pleased the owner and after asking him what he can do, they let him help in the kitchen, where he preparded food for the people staying at the place.
After two days passed, the normal time people stay at the rest spots, the nevrean packed up his belongings and said goodbye to the people at the inn. They gave him some food for the trip and waved him goodbye. His trip went on like this with him stopping at each resting spot for a break, helping here and there where it was needed before going on. And after around two weeks, Faihmrio climbed up the last steps of the pilgrims way very early in the morning, entering some sort of temple. There he was greeted by a guard who guided him to a book. The guard asked him to sign the empty page, which everyone got after getting up here all the way. The guard also heard from the various rest spots, that Faihmrio was a good person, otherwise he would have been taken care of on the way up.
After signing the page and receiving a necklace which shows that he has climbed the mountain and earned his right to live and work in Theologia, the nevrean asked if there is a place he can stay for the moment. After getting a description of the way, Faihmrio thanks the guard and leaves the building, shielding his eyes from sun reflected on the lake. He slwoly gets used to it and takes in the view that unfolds infront of him. It was even better than he expected. This was Theologia, the town his parents wanted to live in. It was just incredible!
The sun slowly started to rise higher and higher, bathing the town, which was built around a crater lake of a still active vulcano. Luckily, there was no danger to all the people! Instead, it helped them to live easier on top of this place.
If one wanted to reach this place, they had to either go their via airship or use the pilgrims' path around and through the mountain. Not many were using this path anymore, because it was a dangerous and long route. But for those who could not afford an airship or the ticket, it was the only way. Luckily, there were many stops on the way, where people could rest and eat for free. This was decided and put into action by the people of Theologia, to help these people.
The biggest highlight of the town is the giant lake and the hole in the middle, where the water falls down into the vulcano where it evaporates, creating a pillar of steam, rising up into the sky. The second highlight was the giant pillar in the middle of the hole, which run from the top all the way down to the bottom of the volcano. Inside this pillar was an elevator, which stops on the many rings on the outside of the pillar. On these rings one can find the many workshops which refine the minerals and metals from the mines and ruins inside the mountain. There also are headquarters of some of the archeology groups from around the world, studying the many ruins found underground.
The town above is divided into three rings. The lower ring is compared of the ports and hangars for the airships and houses of the poor people. Many shady establishments can be found there aswell. Bars and shops which sell questionworthy objects. When going up to the second ring, one can see how the quality of the houses and shops rises.
Many well known shops can be found on the second ring, aswell as the houses of the middle class. Most of the people who visit Theologia stay on this ring, visiting the many shops, staying at the inns and eat at one of the fine restaurants here. The seond ring is also well known for its many spas. The hot springs worked wonders for the body and many tourists come extra for these.
Going further up now is more difficult. The third and last ring belongs to the high society. Powerful companies and mansions of the rich can be found up here. One needs a special passport to enter the third ring. Some people reviece this passport after contributing a lot to the town. Mostly money that is. The other way is if one knows someone who lives on the third ring. This way, they can get something like a visitor pass and also enter the ring freely.
Holding onto the straps of his backpack, Faihmrio goes on walking, looking at everything around him in awe. Shaking his head, clearing his mind, Faihmrio checks his description again and follows them until he arrives at a hostel. It looked rather plain from the outside, but the inside was nice actually! A place made for people to feel at home. The small nevrean walked to the reception desk and introduced himself to the person behind it, a middle aged lady who smiled warmly. After explaining the situation a bit, she showed him a room to rest at. She told him that they can talk more on the next day. Faihmrio nodded and thanked her. After she was gone, he took of his clothes went to bed right away. He slept a dreamless sleep and woke up the next morning. Stretching himself, he puts on some fresh clothes and moves down to the reception again. The lady the told him to follow her to the office where they took care of some formalities. Like his reasons for being here, informations regarding himself and alike. He answered everything truthfully and the lady wrote everything down on a clipboard. After that was taken care of, she asked what he planned on doing now. Faihmrio told her he would like to start working as fast as possible, so he can stay here. He then asked her if she knew of a places who are hiring at the moment. After talking about his skills and knowledge it was clear, that it would be in a kitchen somewhere and after a quick look in her books, she handed him an adress of an old bakery which included a café. It was called “New haven”.
Who would have thought, that he would own the place one day and transform it into the place it is now. He introduced himself to the old owner and the two quickly became friends. The owner saw quickly that Faihmrio was skilled and took him in, teaching him even more. And Faihmrio enjoyed learning from the old man! How to make delicoous breads, buns and other baked goods, including pastries! The owner gave his knowledge to Faihmrio, telling him that one day he might be able to take care of verything.
The nevrean worked hard and learnt a lot, sharpening his skills and adding more to his reportoire. The old owner always watched over Faihmrio, pleased that he was a fast learner and did more than well on his tasks. With that, his new life in Theologia started. It was a good life in which he learnt everything from the old owner. And after years have passed, the owner told Faihmrio, that there is nothing more that he can teach the young nevrean and that when the time comes, he will lead this place into prosperity.
It was two years later, that the old man retired and left the café and everything to Faihmrio, who in return promised to take care of everything, He had plans for the café already. And over the course of the next months he would revamp the place. Especially the outer area of the café. He kept the inside the same, only polishing it up, little repairs here and there and some replacements regarding the furnitures. He wanted to keep the old style it had the whole time, it was an important point to him. Thanks to all he had done, the café prospered and he had to hire some more people to work there. And it stayed like this since ever.
He finished his break, resurfacing from his memories of the past. Stretching himself, he looks around his office. This place got also renovated at the time he got the place. Compared to the inside of the café, this room is much brighter. Instead of the dark wood, much brighter wood was used here. There is also a large panorama window with a view over the town and lake. Close to the wall next to his desk is another fireplace over which he placed a large framed picture of the pier at the bottom of the mountain. A big part of the floor was covered by a large carpet with a comfy leather couch on it facing the fireplace. A nice arrangement of candy and a ase with flowers was placed on a table between the couch and fireplace. There are also high shelfs with all sorts of books, mostly cooking books from all over the world to help get a bigger variety of dishes. Though he also had novels, picture books and other sorts of books there which he'd enjoy in his freetime. This room was not only an office, but also a living room to him.
Taking the stairs in the back of the office, one reaches Faihmrio's private rooms. His bed- and bathroom aswell as a large kitchen in which he experimented with all sorts of dishes to find new things to serve down at the café.
The bathroom was a large room for which Faihmrio took great care while designing the interior. Instead of the shining marble which they used for the terrace, dull white marble was used here. There is a large bathtub with enough space for around five people and built in bubblemaker placed next to another panorama window which also is overlooking the town and lake. In another corner is a large shower with more than one showerhead, making it easier to rinse the body. For the shower, sink, toilet and bathtub they used polished black marble as a contrast to the white marble. The tapwares were made from golden metal which gave everything a nice look. Faihmrio also decorated the room with plants and old statues which he found in town, aswell as some nice shells.
Compared to the other rooms, the bedroom was rather simple. Faihmrio decided on that, as it was only used by him and guests to sleep. Of course the beds were high class and super comfy, but besides that, there was not much to it. He had his wardrobe with clothes for various occasions, nightstands with lamps for when he wanted to read a bit, but thats it.
The nevrean now ended his break and went back to work, as he wanted to provide the best service to the customers! What will the future bring for him? We will see!
He could easily go to the prestigious third ring, but he wants to stay on the second, so he can provide his service to everyone, which would be difficult to acieve on the other.
