this is a good idea! My suit has those little slits in the wrists so I can take my hands out of the gloves, this is perfect! I can just pop a hand under the arm sleeve slit and there's my wallet!

I stitch something similar in my larger muscle suits, although having it removable and flat is a really stellar idea.

We used to sew it directly in the suits, but I figured why bother when it is something super handy and easy like this.

I was sort of pondering the same thing the other day - like if I didn't have a spotter, what would I do for all my stuff? Great idea!

I just slip the cards under my Under Armor sleeves.

thats a great idea but may need something added to keep the IDs from falling out... especially if you have a ID or key card that is smaller than average.

Already on it actually. We added a clasp around the top edge, and may have a zippered model.

clean it up and offer other colors and you could sell it for non-suiters too. Though as a non suiter I would probably wear it the other wait. I would also advise of some sort of closure? I know it probably works on tensions but over time the cards still might slide.

To put it in context, this is a "first draft", we are just gauging interest, and already have a 2.0 in the works. Those issues are already being addressed.

What colors or patterns would you want to see in the 2.0?

Hmmm:
Strap colors: black, white, nude
Holder: roygbiv, black, white, grey (maybe a teal ^.^ personal fave there)

Obviously for production purposes probably narrow it down, but that would give a good range that can either be blaringly obvious, or nicely subtle. the range of colors would make it easier to mask against the colors of a suit, or simply look good on their own. and even maybe provide a way to simply represent yourchar even out of suit by having your colors on display.

Maybe to basic mass produced ones at the typical - b/w/n with b/w/n pouches and have the colors be customizable for a small service fee of 5-10$

example, I would personally love a teal strap with purple pouch or a white with teal. Since I don't suit, I would want something asthetically pleasing and secure, and would be willing to pay a little more for those features.
Whereas if I did suit, a nude on nude for cheap would be just fine since it is more about function than form.

I remember seeing someone with a pocket like this but built into the inside of the sleeve of their suit instead of on a wristband. This is a nice non-permanent/destructive solution! Maybe toss a velcro strap or somethign over the top? I feel like with the way suiters flail their arms around centrifugal force would throw the cards out of vertical slots like that...

Or you could wear it upside down?

But yeah, we are already planning a strap for the 2.0. that. We really didn't have a lot of free time to make this, as we made this one while waiting on a part to cast for a suit we are working on. So, we will have a much more refined version soon.

Yeah i'm sure you'd considered all this and id assume how tight it is on the wrist makes a big difference as far as stuff staying in/falling out.

Very cool idea. I've used those travel zipper wallets that go around your neck before. But they're harder to get to while in suit and zippers with fluffy paws don't mix.
Only issue I've experienced is moisture where I've had a hotel keycard start to not work after suiting before.

It looks like if the straps are long enough, that they would also work on the ankle, which would keep it out of the prime arm hugging zone.

It is tucked up flat against your arm. For you to bend, or crush a card, you would most likely also have to break the arm the card is affixed to.

Great idea! My only suggestion would be maybe adding some kind of a snap to go over the cards so that they don't fall out should the card pockets get a bit stretched out with use.

Also was thinking if the material is stretchy enough that can be wore on a person's ankle as well. This way can have the option on where to wear the wallet but also can wear it outside of suit, like if traveling, especially aboard

oh when I met outside of suit. I just meant in normal clothes, walking around. Since ive traveled aboard, keeping stuff in wallet can not always be the best option. Having your stuff somewhere inconspicuous, like wrist and/or ankle is a great place so dont get pickpocketed.

Overall saying your idea can be used for everyday use and not just fursuiting. Got multiple potentials :)

I dance in suit, and though we ware already adding a strap to the top (not because of any current issue, but just because people asked us to), ahd after running it underwater, dancing in it, flinging it around, and trying to loosen the cards.. so far, not an issue.

Though it is somewhat ad nauseam to mention, yes, there will be a strap over the top.

Really? Honestly, it's easier to remove than a wrist watch, so it would not be something I would be too worried about.

When you introduce a new idea like this you always hear about these things that people do. I for one have never had that issue (I was born, and still live in Florida).

I am going to go out on a limb here and say if the 30 pounds of faux fur has not made you overheat, 4 inches of neoprene on your wrist should not put you over that edge.

No, I have huge writs, and that had not happened to me.

It's no worse than a wrist watch. If anything it is more comfortable, as it has a much larger surface area.

probably just make a section on your site where people can purchase them anytime, limited to 10 in stock at any time. can't purchase if not in stock, so you get time to make 10, sell 10, etc. then just have to do shipping. probably could be a bit of employment opportunity for a trusted person or two, put them in charge of shipping everything or even, when the design is settled, get 2 or 3 people specifically for making them and shipping them to leave the rest of you on the main task of making fursuits.

I do have a question tho. in terms of general cosplay and such, do you think you'd come out with other versions, like an upper arm version and a thigh version? these really can be applied to other things besides fursuiting, and it would give you a broader target audience to have other versions of those kinds.

oh, second question. are they able to be worn backwards, with card hole facing towards your arm instead of away? or are they kinda shaped to be worn one way? with or without the restraint strap some people might prefer the cards face them as added security.

I looked at a few similar things, but anything remotely close online looks poorly deigned, and looks more like a wrist fanny pack.

Well thats what I was thinking too. What could I get to quickly for my money/card. And thought: wrist... So I went on Ebay, and found this one. It was pretty.. decent looking. It was about 10$ USD. It has 2 compartments inside, can hold a few CCards, and folded bills and change. So I think your working in the right path, but I'd think about change too. thats my only suggestion.

Yeah, really until you see a polished final version we could spitball all day. I will say that we want it to look sleek, and low profile. Again.. al the ones I had seen are essentially socks on wristbands. We wanted to avoid that. In the end it may offer less storage, and really only be for the bare essentials. ID, Keycard, and maybe a credit card. Maybe a separate version that has s fold for cash. Less is more approach.

My underlayer is usually a diveskin, and I just slide my ID and room key up the back of my left wrist; but if I needed to use something shortsleeved in a pinch, this would be a great backup option.

Or heck, even out of suit. I ride motorcycles, and am forever forgetting I might need gas until it's time to rock up at the gas station (again) and go rooting through my overpants (again) to try to get to the wallet in my bluejeans underneath. Having it all right there where I can just pull the gloves off and take care of business would be pretty stellar. I would imagine even moreso for riders in closer-fitting track day stuff that's designed to be worn instead of, vs. overtop of, your regular clothes, where a full wallet might not fit comfortably in any of the upper-body pockets.

Looks like this would be good for cosplaying in general, not just suiting! Very clever.

If you do actually produce these, I will definately get one.

dude this has way more uses than just fursuiting. it would be great in the winter too, if you're like me and hates purses but don't wanna go fishing through a frick-ton of layers trying to remember which pocket you put your wallet in. just shove your fingers up your sleeve and boom, got it.

the only thing I struggle with is getting cards/cash out while wearing fur paws which makes getting slick things like credit cards out of wallets and stuff difficult without taking off a lot of stuff. the only advice I'd offer is something in the back to push the cards/cash out of the front enough to grip even with paw pads or claws.

I just slide the card in with a shoelace. So, you just pull on the lace when you want it out. Kinda like the little ribbon the you put batteries over, you just pul it to pop the batteries.

now that's a novel idea. I doubt I can grasp the shoelace/string or find it while fully suited up, but yes that would work for your invention. I don't think the shoelace thing would work for a standard wallet, but for this wrist holder, yes.

I get that it's not what you were going for, but honestly this is a really cool idea that could be expanded. When wearing dresses it always makes me nervous to hold this stuff in my hand out of fear that I'll put it down and leave it, so one that could be worn around the thigh would be sweet.

I fashioned something similar to this for guitar picks for a friend many years ago, and I'd never considered extending it to storing cards. I'd totally snag one.
