Just a quick portrait doodle for a friend's Avali character.
I can't believe how popular the Starbound mod has become, I figured an obscure original race wouldn't even show up on the radar (Considering it's rivals include My Little Pony, Catgirls and assorted furries); yet it's by far the number one race mod, and is sitting pretty at third most popular mod of all time for the game D:

Long long time yet. We're still in phase 1 of beta, there'll be 3 phases. Starbound's development is a lot like Minecraft comparatively speaking and Minecraft was in beta over a year i believe before it was officially "launch version", however, second and third phases of beta will be a lot more feature complete

I'm a huge fan of this race mod and it clearly deserve it!
I love my little Ayali <3 But I die a lot, so I couldn't help but notice there wasn't a death sequence (yet) so far I love everything about it. They're so adorable and fun to play.
To be fair these little fluffy things top the adorable charts~

Its your effort and care, players can feel that from what I can tell. The tapestry helps too.
I actually don't think it's that surprising at all how popular they are. None of the other race mods even come close the the level of depth and completeness that you're giving the Avali.
Really, the best way I think I can put it is... you can't tell they're a mod. Their look, their lore, the quality and uniqueness of their style all fits in so well with the rest of the game, it's seamless.

Well, maybe the reason is because you took it so seriously you made an ENTIRE wiki page on them, 97% of it plausible, believable, and correctly organized and researched. For a video game add-on.
Although I'm not so sure about two things: 3d printing aerogel, and orange aerogel. Aerogel is created through rapidly compressing gases until it becomes a solid. How would you do that with even a space-age printer, and where can you cheaply and commonly find ORANGE gas?
