Rare 2014 — Holi, Festival of Colors
My part for the Rare 2014 Anthro Calendar! This image is based on the Indian festival of Holi (and a huge reason I really want to visit India someday!). All the animals in this image can be found in India in some form or fashion. :) I really, really like how pink and blue vibrate together. Sometimes it’s obnoxious, but in this case I think I had a great excuse. :D

Wow, this is really colorful! I the amount of effort you put into your work, not to mention all the swirls!
This is pretty damn awesome D: And yes, I really love how the pink and blue contrast and blend, both with each other and the rest of the image.
Awesome. Just straight up awesome. Fantastic work. :)
Ah this turned out absolutely beautiful! Love the colors, light, action and all the little things going on here!
Really love the intricate design detail put into the foreground Crocodile's snout!
I was born in India and someday will return for a time. Holi is one of my favourite festivals!

Not just the colors and details, but the composition is absolutely brilliant too!
I usually don't get these calendars but this really caught my attention because it's so beautiful, and looking at the rest of the artwork for this calendar... I just ordered one <3
Beautiful imagery! I think the pink and the blue blend perfectly together in this instead of coming across as obnoxious, and the cloud coloring is a wonderful contrast to the more earthy tones of the rest of the pictures.
Wow ! I love the detail in the foreground characters! You've captured the moment well.
That's some explosively attractive colors you have there Centradragon. It immediately stood out amongst the rest of my watched commissions. Nice job!
Oh gosh this is so amazing! I really do love the colors and the swirly details, and all the people in the background. Everything is fun to look at!
The excellence of execution! The pinnacle of perfection! Ohmygawd its too much, awesome overload!
Nothing I say can accurately describe how beautifully vibrant this is is.
So colorful and bright, but not too much, and I just love the feel of move here. Amazing!
I visited India quite some time ago, but I remember it was a lovely country.
It's too bad I missed the Holi festival, but visiting the country was treat enough.

Nice!
Just to ask... I doubt this'll get answered considering how many comments there are, but did you use much image reference? Especially for the coat/coat wrinkles. And also I'm curious as to whether or not you used layer modes much, or if it was all painted 'straight'.
one other question, I realize I'm asking a lot of them but... did you paint under a sketch then remove the sketch? Or did you leave the sketch there, then merge it down and paint over it?
Also, how long did this take?
(sorry if I asked too many questions :P)

Words cannot express how I love the entirety of this image. Are you at liberty to make prints larger than the calendar format?
Nothing I can say here that other people probably haven't said. This is gorgeous. That is all.
