Wow, this took me all day. From about 4 or 5pm to 1am....I am so tired....The sketch and inks were done months before, I just never had the initiative to finish this. I think it turned out awesome! Well...Seyenna did. The background is very sucktastic BUT I do like the bed of clouds. God it took me two hours to get them the way I wanted. And the shading alone took me 3hrs . Man I suck at this haha! It felt good to get a drawing finished that wasn't a pose for once. Trying to move away from being a "pose-only" artist is tougher than I thought. I have two versions of this (because they both look good and reflect statements that I wanted to reflect with this drawing): one without Seyenna's digital wings and one with them.
The original idea was heavily inspired by Grypwolf's drawing: http://grypwolf.deviantart.com/art/.....IDEO-339441487
This includes the music that is in the speedpainting video of that drawing. Beautiful music. But the idea and inspiration behind this changed when I modified Seyenna's appearance and character (a new reference is in the making)- hence the version with the digital wings. This was also inspired by (and this will sound weird) my dreams and daydreams. Sometimes, I dreamed that I could fly and daydreamed that as well. For a while those flying dreams happened frequently and it was nearly a physical ache. I haven't had those dreams recently though. This was first sketched months ago.
I'm not 100% happy about how this came out (the rays of light, the funky clouds, and lack of intense highlighting that Seyenna does need, since she's so close to a brilliant light source) but its a great step in the right direction. Also, this was a lot of fun and I do like it (for once) ^^ Well now that my eyes are bloodshot and my butt and legs are stiff from sitting still for so long, I think I'll actually sleep...since I have work tomorrow and what not.
