This is another of my 3D models in Blender. What your looking at is the design environment I build my 3D stuff in and this is my latest project. Meet Le mal, one of sandragon favorite characters. Sany and I agreed to do an art trade after I started drooling over her 'smudge' dragons. If you haven't seen them, do go have a peak in her gallery, it's good stuff! Her version of my character Falcor is over on FAP!
Right now Le mal here is missing his wings and most of his teeth because I haven't modeled them yet. It takes quite some time to build a model, for anyone who cares Le mal currently has 5430 verticies, most of which were placed or manipulated by hand by me over the last couple of days. I expect the number of verticies to double by the time the model is finished and I hope to have it ready for texture and paint by the end of this week!
Anyway, enjoy for now!

*chuckles* Blender takes a long time to learn. I've been at it for over a year now and I'm a LONG way from being an ex-spurt.. (*chuckles atta inside blender joke*)
Spacebar->Add->Mesh->Puzzelbox
(It's a Hell Raiser joke about 3D programs.. Pinhead anyone?) }:8p

Looks good Luv.. hmm...inside joke...hehehehe in moe ways than one. :D
Yep! ROTFL "Came with the idrool!"
Just shoot me, Shoot now... (I'm on a roll!)
BTW.. I like the new avatar... Your smiling OMFG!

Where do you go to find out how many verts you have? And doesn't that many verts dog down Blender like crazy? Or do you have a supah l33t computer?
Hey Rabitboy,
Actualy it's on the screen up at the top. Look next to the purple area at the top of the image where it says www.blender.org ve=verts fa=faces ob=objects la=latices (I think) then it's memory that the model is using (not the file save size) I'm not sure what the time is for and lastly selected object.
Obviously the more verts you have the longer the computation time in render but Le mal here is light on the verts to be honest. My most complex mesh so far is the Falcor model, it has 34161 verts so FAR! With the textures and all he's just starting to bog down the computer a little, not bad thou..... I'll have to check the render time for you at 640 x480 if you want some kind of benchmark.
Remember thou, textures are realy what kill the processer because of the number of calculations the computer has to make. (Multiplied by the number of verts of course)
l33t computer... ROTFL That's a gas. No, it's a 600$ dell. I just optimised it for blender.
OK Let me explain some things about what I mean by optimised.
OS: First it's running Linux, which speeds the darn thing up by about twice over windows.
Processor : It's a athalon 64X2 (4800) but nothing you can't pick up a office max or wallyworld now-a-days. I do not have the 64bit kernel running thou, Linux or rather most of the programs are not 64 bit ready YET.
Memory : 2Gig bla bla bla... never used the swap file so this much is a little overkill but I'm set for a while.
Video card: Cheep ATI.. Next time I buy a nvidia.. the ATI drivers are clunky and I can't even use half it's feaps...
Drive: 140G (Yea only a 140, but with all my crap installed I'm at 126G free!) Linux prgrams are remarkably smaller than Windows ones. It has a lot to do with the way C files and modules (like dlls) are shaired.
That's it. I've looked at a machine at either Walmart or Office Max this week that was a much better machine than this one.
One cavet thou... the AMD processors work much better on Linux than windows for some reason. That's something that the kernel guys would understand better but 'm willing to bet it has something to do with the fact that AMD has always been friendly to the Unix/Linux folks by helping the comunity with opening their specifications and in some cases ever reliecing code so our machines work better.

I'll have to look at that when I open up Blender later. It sounds like a lot but then, I've never paid attention. I may have more than that in my model for all I know.
From your specs, I shouldn't be having too many problems. My processor is about half that speed, but I'm using and Nvidia graphics card. The only other difference is that I'm using Windows and you're using Linux. Maybe I should consider dual booting.
Thanks for the low-down!

As long as it's fast enough for you I wouldn't worry about it. Although I can't say for sure, I've heard Blender on windows does pretty good. When you have a scene that's taking a real long time to render drop me a line and I'll render it over here and see what my speed is for a comparison.
Hey there!
Well I wouldn't call myself a master by a long shot.. but now that I'm used to Blender.. I like it. It's hot keys make modeling faster and more fun... if you can remember them that is..*chuckles*

For me, I found Blender to be a huge headache. Its not that it isnt an efficient program or that it cant produce wonderful things (your work is proof). Its just the interface doesnt make any sense to my "workspace logic".
*chuckles* Wow, thanks.. (for your comment on my work) I've been told that blender is weird.. As I don't know anyother 3D program other than wings 3D I can't say.. hugs Ignorance is bliss? *lol*
