Ahh the Great Palace of Zelda 2, it's so massive and yet there is only one path to the end of it.
And for those that seem to use these little pixel maps as real maps to use, that light grey outline IS the path to the end. And yeah, it IS the only path, there is no need to go anywhere else.
*Edit* I forgot a few rooms, so please refresh.

woah.. that looks pretty huge.. o3o good job on it though c:
It IS huge. The original image of this place is 13,824x3,360. That is one huge image. O3o
And thank you. =3

Normally when people huddle in a corner, they're cowering in fear. :P
Also I just realised, blow this up big enough and you have Atari 2600 graphics. ^^
Yeah, but that is the easy way to fight Shadow Link. XP
And yeah, I envision a green pixel traversing this whole thing. XP

Maaaaybe a green and brown pixel can extend a white pixel from it's top pixel or bottom pixel to attack, or even put the pixel above or below it for up or down thrusts!
There is presumably a reason to go somewhere else. Completionism.
In many parts of the game, yeah, there's some stuff hidden off the beaten path. Gotta explore to find those hidden Heart Containers and whatnot.
The Great Palace, however, does not screw around. It is designed to confuse you and make you wander in circles and into dead ends, facing waves of extremely powerful enemies in every room. If you go exploring in there, the only thing you'll find is death.
I mean, I think there's a few rooms with full magic potions or healing fairies or something, but you can't take them with you and the enemies will respawn along the path you took to get there.

i think this could be a intressting terraria build layout bee with a modification or two to make the rest of the place usefuller rather then only onepath.
Looks stillv ery nice. to sad there no real need to explore about 50% of the map/level/location

Yeah, it makes it feel so pointless to have all of it there. But then again it's meant to be a challenge, and your first time there you will be spending a lot of time figuring out how to get to the end.
now dont get me wrong, i LOVE The Legend of Zelda. But due to Zelda II's INSANE difficulty(for me at least), i cant bring myself to like it very much.
Wow this is amazing! Zelda II is one of my favorite zelda games but it's so fusturating to complete, especially Death Mountain.
I for one have gotten use to it. But when I did a low health run Death Mountain was a nightmare. All you gotta do though is go right and only right.
There's a cool trick that you can actually pull off. I'm terrible at describing, but let's see if I can...
In one of the last rooms, where there's different entry heights for the left and right, and you're supposed to come in from the right, then break the blocks to drop down to the next to last floor, there's a way you can juke the game if you came in from the left. Cast the Jump Magic, and then you need to manipulate the paths of the "Medusa heads" in that room. If you can do it correctly, you can do a down thrust jump off of one, then cross the top of the screen a-la Mario, and when you go to the right, you'll end up being on the correct level of the next room. Which means you can just turn around and then be on the correct path.
I saw it done in a TAS video, but I also have physically pulled it off myself.

I have no use for glitches like that, I prefer to play the game like normal.
Oh, the days of insanely difficult final areas and all. I loved and hated that dungeon so much...along with some of the final few. So brutal!
Yes, those bird enemies, Fokkas, they were the biggest threat. Fast and powerful...
Oh, I hated them something fierce! I almost always had quite a lot of health until one of those would come along. Damned Fokkas!
Yeah, that is one of the few times I will use Thunder Spell. I use it to instakill the red ones, and take out half of the blue ones health.
If it wasn't for them, I ~think~ I could have explored the entirety of the castle with only moderate issues. But with them there...you just had to take the right path, or else losing so much time and health running around was too deadly of a proposition. ^^;;
Yeah, even with shield they do far too much damage. Imagine how it feels to go in there with level 1 health and only 4 blocks of health.
Oh, good lord, I cannot even imagine! I thought it was bad enough when I braved the path ages ago as a kid without the ability to see the invisible floating eyes. o.o
