I played around with morphtargets to create a little variety of expressions for Verall.
He is mute (though not by design), but can speak with his voice synthesizing collar, which transforms the activity of the vocal cord nerves into speech.
I picture him as an athlete, produced for sport competitions.

Ooh. Hes cute as all hell. And the mute aspect is interesting.
i love mute characters, they have a sort of charm no other type of character can have. and his grump face is just darn adorable!
A beautiful guy indeed, I love how you worked his design, also, I've allways been a fan of felines :3
Really like the expressions especially the bottom row. The voice collar idea is a nice idea. His being mute seems like it'd be an interesting story.

The expressions are quite awesome! Also love the collar. His outfit is very cool as well. Nice work!
He is too cute and in that outfit and shorts..! and the expressions...
I really like the purposefulness of his markings, I think it lends itself very well to the whole manufactured being thing. His back markings remind me of a king cheetah!
Love his grumpy look! Very well done and your work is far beyond amazing! Thank you for sharing and continuing your work!
Oh, he's adorable ^w^ Great job with the expressions, you can really push his face a lot which is nice to see.
No many seem to make characters with a flaw these days. It makes him more interesting!
He's beyond adorable. I love the grumpy face and the cheesy grin...
What a cute little bugger! You seriously need to draw more of this guy :)
I love your character designs, and I love them even more when I see their awesome expressions.
The expressions are priceless. well done.
This is all in Cinema4D?

Hehehe! I can imagine that someone might go and teasing him by re-programing his collar to make his voice sound either like girlish cheerleader, a fabulously flamboyant man or someone who sounds like he shallowed a whole canister of helium.
So are your bionicore characters all enslaved by the corp., or are they sort of indentured?
Also awesome ref! This guys awesome and so are his ever present sleeves!

Animats are seen as property, the Society (Humans) use them as they please. Bionicore is just the manufacturer.
With that voice collar i can so picture the voice all...well robotic like...:D Like a techno bee stuck in someones throat! XD That would actually be so silly. But he's adorable! ^^
This expression work is fantabulous! Of course, I'd expect no less from the Mighty Zorryn!
So when are we going to see all these characters of yours in a full-length animation? :D
love it, I also really like the fact you made him a mute and yet give him the ability to speak through a device, very creative and innovative.
Everyone ( rightfully) lives the facial expressions and the markings, but I think attention should be drawn to just how well the outfit compliments this individual. The sleek, honeycomb patterns of the textile reinforce the synthetic nature of this cute little guy, reminiscent of a Tron theme, a la Tron: Legacy. The accent of the digital eartag also lends to the previous statement. A sleek, minimalist outfit to match the toned, efficient design of the wearer itself (himself? Do synthetic entities such as this one deserve/need a gender specific pronoun?).
Having said that, as a personal observation of preferences and unwarranted opinion, I personally think some sort of patterning in the eyes, or perhaps some sort of subtle glow, would not be too over-the-top, for this character. When I say a pattern, I particularly imagine a few concentric circles or designs that would be reminiscent of a camera or sensor.
Either way, this is a lovely piece of artwork. I look forward to seeing more artwork from this world.

I wonder... if those are his arms, or a flexible carbon fiber-skin-like sleeve or what... I find them fascinating.
No, these are still sleeves, an early version had him having cybernetic arms, but that was too much for my taste... he just likes the sleeves and rarely takes them off ;D
I'd feel terrible with sleeves that tight.
But nice for him heeh
and nice he has sleeves, because the fingers xD

I really wish I knew how you went about modelling the head / face. I envy you, you make it seem so easy, but it still gives me fits. :(
I really like this character and how he looks right from every angle unlike some 3D renders.
D=
ich will ihn immer noch haben T-T
diese Zähnchen sind so ubercute!

This must definitely be my favorite amongst all the things you rendered so far - he's just such a cutie! <3
As always, amazing work.

Awwww... I love the "Is mute" expression! And what a cool idea for a character. He looks great (and his nice footpaws too, w00t). Hope we get to see lots more of him. ^_^
If he's mute and he's got a synth collar, he's about as mute as a legally blind person with glasses. :\ Kind of like how Adam Jensen has robot arms--he's not really an amputee THAT much...he just has different gear from the rest of everyone else.
Freaking amazing design. You're by far one of the most expressive 3D artists I know of.
You made the QR code valid! I am so very entertained by that: good job with the attention to detail, there.
Also, this cheetah is delicious and charming and engagingly designed. Well-done. :)

;-; it so pretty I don't know what to say......to amazing for words ^^
this dude looks amazing, but i have to ask: how does his shirt work? whats keeping it up?
The shirt is able to be modificated, you can wear it with the sleeves, where the lashes hold it in place, or you can remove it to just wear the sleeves.
Haha, like the dog from Pixar's Up. :D
Man, this is rather intriguing. :O

Holy detail, batman... o.o
And awesome character concept! <3

He's wonderful. You rock with expressions!
Do the use of Animats vary by owner - that is, are at least some of them treated like valuable people by their owners? And what's their lifespan like?
Do the use of Animats vary by owner - that is, are at least some of them treated like valuable people by their owners? And what's their lifespan like?
Yes, it can vary a lot. Though, generally Animats are seen as second class lifeforms. But some humans treat them well, even though they are a minority. Lifespan is something I have to work on defining. Currently I toy round with a limitation of a given amount of heartbeats.
Interesting. Can they be rejuvenated or reused somehow? I don't know how close they are to living creatures or to machines.
You know, I have never seen someone have that same idea for a shirt. I wish people would make tops like that, with the sleeves and nothing else. I want it so badly, but haven't found anyone else with that idea until now. Thank you!
Just looking back on this again. When you said you used morph targets for his expressions, do you mean you built a facial animation rig, or did you sculpt each expression that we see here separately?
I sculpted them quickly, takes just a few minutes for an expression
D: I wanna hug him sooo bad! He's effing adorable hahaha! Love the expressions as well. You never cease to amaze me~
What program is it you use for the creation of your models, by the way?
What program is it you use for the creation of your models, by the way?
Ahh, I thought that may have just been for posing and lighting. How much is this program? Also is it more of a professional one or could those fairly new to making models use it?
The learning curve in C4D is very steep, which is good, you get a lot of functionality in a short time - even as a newby. Check out maxon.net, the developers.
Das sieht verdammt gut aus. Sehr schöne arbeit, ich mag den Gepard
Looked at this picture several times. I can see him as an athlete but only against similar due to the unfair advantages such would have being barred from competition with regular humans
