This shield looks more than a little impractical...

Both the shield and sword have a aura around them when I'd be actively fighting. The shield is more for a defensive fight, as it can be launched like a spiritual cutting buzsaw. The shield is more for spiritual fighting while the sword is better for the physical attacks, but they can be interchanged. The shield can also readjust itself into a full beam sword by separating and being the beam base. When "sheathed" it's basically in halves and stored on either side of the gauntlet.
