Finally leaving DeviantArt...
hello, Fur Affinity! it's great to be here lol
as we all know, ever since Eclipse came out DA has been on a major league fucking downfall... despite it all, I kept with the site as long as I could. in the early days of Eclipse the community was still active, artwork still got posted frequently, and I was still able to get pretty good engagement there. plus, I'd been using the site for 14 years, it was like an old friend at this point I didn't feel like I could abandon
no, Eclipse wasn't what killed DeviantArt. AI and "DreamUp" killed DeviantArt.
these days, groups are all fucking dead. nobody favourites or comments on things anymore. admins for groups have all fled, with submissions either being shut down or overrun by spam submissions. DeviantArt is no longer populated by young amateur artists and roleplayers finding their footing in this world, but now by bots and cryptobros. people who for years have put down DA as being the "gross fetish site" now flock to the place to generate nsfw AI art because MidJourney won't do it for them. I don't even care that people use DA for nsfw purposes - hell, I love nsfw art and content - but what bothers me is the people who have been deriding these communities now show their true colours, now that "making art" is "easy" for them.
I could rant about this for a million billion trillion years, but I'd rather focus on the good stuff. I've been wanting to be a Fur Affinity guy for fucking years, but always felt intimidated as I've never seen myself as a "furry" - sure, I draw anthros, and I love looking at furry art and fursuits and following furry artists, but I never felt comfortable saying I was really a "part" of the community. that fear of being seen as a faker, you know? typing it out makes me realise how stupid it sounds, but idk, maybe someone out there can relate. anywho, I figured the best way to get over it was to just make a FA account and post my stuff. and with DA taking a turn for the worst, why not kill two birds with one stone?
my DA has around 5 years worth of art uploaded to it, and if I'm going to be leaving the site, I'll need to upload all that art... again. I'll be spamming this profile with a lotta old stuff, and it'll take a while to finally catch up, but I'll get there. bear with me while I get this account properly going, and good FUCKING bye to DeviantArt!!
